So far...10.6 at 130.7.

Only thing changed was learning how to launch it.
What's the boss run?

11.69 at 122.28 1.90 60 ft. I expect it to do about 124 dialed in with no more power or weight loss. Im going back to 3.73s and running a 26" stiff wall slick.

I thought you were running this weekend as well. I'd bet it gets a bit quicker, the boss should like the weather about now.

Faster than 122mph. But then again it wouldn't be far to include a motorcycle into this. Maybe ill take my stock weight 5.0 to the track and see what she will run.

Damn Evan.....sucks about your rear. Wish you lived closer so I could set it up for your. Good gear guys are hard to find for some reason.....and $800 is way to much for labor on a 8.8. Those things are cake to set up.

Did you keep the shims as a set with the 3.73's? If so just pop them back in. It's not hard to do that. No set up required.

He originally used the bearings off the 3.73s. So they dont have the shims still on them. And the gears are just junk. He told me they were after he drove it. But then said he was gonna charge me again to put the 3.73s in. I paid him half and took my car. I know what things cost to have done. 800$ is a laughable joke.

My guess is the shims are probably on the gearset in your car. Pull it apart and put those shims on your 3.73's. I've seen the 8.8's change gears and use the original shims with great success. If the pattern looks good then run it. Did you check to see if your pinion was loose?

Anytime I change a gearset on my own cars I keep the oe gears/shims together just in case I tear it up I can just put the oe **** back in w/o issue.

I hear ya... unfortunately I dont know whats been changed or used. I have all new bearings in the rear, a diff carrier then stock, and a diff gear set. I have JUST the stock 3.73 gears. Im gonna have another friend install the original gears. Im hoping they will mesh well. I wont dare try gear slapping it myself without any tools to do it right. Hes just gonna have to take the time to shim the pinion and carrier again

Did it always sound like that or did it start after some hard launches?

My guess would be either the pinion but backed off or the crush sleeve collapsed. I've started using shims instead of crush sleeves on 8.8's that are going to be beat on.

HPP charges $300 for a gear swap, gears included last I checked.

That's why I asked him if the pinion was loose......figure if it was it would be one of those things happening to it. A solid shim is the way to go.

Sounds highly unlikely.
