600 rwhp 5.0 vs 09 ZX-10R
So, I finally have moved up in class. I bought myself a 2009 zx-10r with 5k miles on it. Beautiful. In case none of you are familiar, I had a 06 f4i which was fun but it became old very quickly. Too slow, awkward looking because of the banana seat, and just blah. I do admit, against some 5-600 hp cars that thing would surprise you from a 40.
To the story. I had raced a friends pro charged 5.0 on my 600 and the last time we ran we went from a 40, me in first and him I believe in 2nd. Ground was cold and both of us spun. He spun much more than me but I held him off until 120 and he blew my fairings off. Not really, but he went by me fairly quickly.
This bike being new to me, I decided it would be best if I started in 3rd. Now, am I completely aware I could start in 1st or 2nd? Of course, but like I said this things is new to me and this is just a friendly race. No need to go liter bike looping.
We agreed on 50-130. He opted not to have a camera man so he can better his odds. I'm like its a liter bike, you have no odds, in a joking manner. We laugh and set off.
Each of the 3 runs went like this. He jumps out a car on me and I hold his lead right there as my rpms rise. 7000, 8000, 9000, and I start pulling back 10,000, 11,000 I'm ahead and putting lengths on him, 12,000, 13,000, 13,500 shift, and the bike just pulls and pulls. I eventually (like it takes long) stop at 155. This thing is a ******* animal. I didn't even realize I was going that fast until I look down. I was like da fuq? Really thought I was doing 120. No bitch, you were doing 155. The crazy thought was, this thing was still pulling like I was in 3rd gear. It's mind boggling fast. I have to respect what this thing is capable of. Reading this story doesn't come close to understanding how much power a liter bike has. My only frustration comes from not understanding the bike like I did my 600. Respect comes first, then ill become a better more suitable rider.
Lol, while we were negotiating, had a guy on either a Kawi 650 or 250, not sure which was his, telling me he would go wot on my liter bike? I was like shuddufuckup. Shhhh. You're talking stupid.
Cliffs: pro charged 5.0 vs zx-10r. Bike won by a lot.

Sounds about right to me.. Gonna need more then 600rwhp in a car to run with a liter bike..
And yes, you should have been in 1st gear ideally at 50... Odds are tho, you would have wheelied the **** out of it.. 2nd at 50 is a decent starting point.
Congrats on the new bike. Becareful on it until you know it backwards and forwards.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try and get better so I can get some good action. Irunelevens, I'll have to meet up with you in dfw sometime. I'm only 2 hours away and have visited the last 3 weeks.

Way more margin for error in second.
Unless you are really good and can keep the front floating without chopping the throttle, first gear is pretty useless from most speeds.
If you were starting under 6k like it sounds like, you were giving him a hell of an advantage! The real fun starts at 9-10k on a literbike
