Default Surprising run against an 03 Termi

Just off work, I pull out and spot a Cobra at the red light heading the same direction as I'm going. I get on it a little turning through the intersection to show I'm willing to play. He speeds off to catch up to me but rolls on by.

We catch a light and we are both rolling down the windows as I pull up. He asked if I wanted to go from 20? I told him I'm game but he should get me as I'm mostly stock. He said it could be close as he has an intake and clutch. He said go at 20 no beeps!

The first thought in my head is I'm going to call and curse the guy that sold me his NX last week kit with a plate that only works with DBW. After I asked if the setup will fit my f-body. (I shoulda looked at the pics a little closer)

Anway, on to the race.

We reach 20 and hit it right at the same time. Once I gain traction I start to pull a little and I have 3/4 of a car on him going into second.

In second I continue to pull and put roughly a car between us. At around 90 MPH he was back on my bumper and gaining quickly.... But immediately lets off.

I slow down and pull into the gas station behind him. Asked if he would run again we chatted for a bit but he wasn't interested in another race.

His car is a m6 rob......it should run 107 + stock. It's probably in the 110 range now.

Good run

Yeah normally I'd tell him no on the roll since I'd need any advantage I can get against an 03-04. I was on dry rotted winter tires b/c my Yukon took a sh*t on me right before snow fall. With him having 10.5+ wide tires I was happy to go from a roll.

Only in your narrow minded world is this fact...I've personally seen well-driven, stock Ellis Jauns run anywhere from 102 to 109, did you pay no attention to what Oda said he ran with bolt ons? Or can he not drive or set up a car properly?

This is the 3rd Termi I've beat in a near stock T/A. I took on two in my A4 with headers and cutouts. One was running poorly and the other 2 were mint.

My buddy has an 04 full exhaust a few bolt-ons and a pulley... he pulls me hard. I'm thinkin once I get the Kooks 1 7/8, cutouts and a 100 shot in I shouldn't have a problem? Any thoughts?

Were pretty low elevation and the air was very cool so that helps with being N/A more so than FI. I'm sure I wouldn't trap 110 but I was very proud of my driving on this run... I'm not typically a great driver by any means. I've not had a ton of exp racing the 6 spd and really need to grab up a shift light for the street.

Headers plus a 100 shot you should definitely beat a pullied cobra IMO

Case in point

It don't take a 100 shot to beat beat a pullied cobra. They are are low 12sec cars with a basic pulley tune catback ....high 11's with a tire. Not out of bolt-on ls1 territory by any means. A 100 shot should out run even a ported eaton car.

You're right.......I have no experience with these cars. Never did bolt-ons to mine or helped on anyone else's. I have no ******* clue........seems nonsense that I'm the only bolt-on type car goin for 10's in the Eat Crow challenge.

+1 on the kooks! Get you fast intake and do full 3.5" exhaust where your y comes together back. 3.73 gears, about 200lb of weight reduction, udp and a good light clutch. You'll be right with him or maybe out run him. I would not want to bet on that race.

I've helped make them go 110 with free mods only. I went 109 with just a granitelli mass air and a lid not very good day and a **** 60'. Your car is capable of 110 with decent track prep and driving.

I was running 11.20's and 11.30's with a pulley and bolt ons. My bolt on + 100 shot LS1 went 11.50's.

What all did you have done? Some of my friends that had them all ran between 11.7 and 12.2's depending on exact mods/tires. I/E/P(upper only)/T and dr's....or not

11.2-4's is typically ported eaton times.

2.76 upper pulley
Basani catback
Short throw shifter
Nittos
Plugs
CAI
Good tune

That's pretty much it. I've never run in a DA better than 1500.

...oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I can row 'em pretty well.

I've ran a low 11 sec car and it pulled me WAY harder than my buddy. It looked very similar to the vid above with the Camaro running all motor.

I may put 150 to it just for that race to settle the score.

I didn't say a ******* thing about you not knowing what you're doing Hio. What I said, was that you expecting EVERY bone stock LS1 to trap 107+ is stupid. That is a ridiculous assumption, and quite frankly, complete bullshit... Performance varies from vehicle to vehicle, whether it be a Ford, Chevy, or otherwise. No amount of amazing driving or fancy "Hio-tech" is going to change that.

Give it up.
We've been telling him that for years.
