Tales from the SRK: 1200hp Turbo C5 Z06 vs ProCharged F1X & Nitrous C6 Z06, Stroker Supra and TT Viper
By Justin F
The infamous 418 cubic inch big turbo LS3 powered C5 Z06 out of Texas is at it again, except this time it's Corvette-on-Corvette action. The C5 Z06 receives plenty of boost thanks to a Precision 8891 turbo and sips on copious amounts of E85 before turning the boost through a stock 6-speed transmission for a claimed 1200hp at the rear wheels. In this video you'll find a wicked fast 1300hp C6 Z06 juiced with a ProCharger F1X blower and a 200 shot of N20 along with a BIG turbo supra with a stroker motor and 40psi of boost and a twin turbo Viper. Texas certainly doesn't mess around!

Damn...good runs! I am a little curious about that big single Vette and it's power level during those races. He walked a 1250whp UGR TT Gallardo at TX2K...beat him by 3-5 cars. To pull away from that G, he had to of had around 1400whp...the G has all the advantages, especially from a roll....aero, faster shifting (which is huge), traction, and boost by gear.
Taking NOTHING away from the other rides...they are all badass.

awesome races! but for a 1200hp c5, it didn't really look like it. not hating, just to me, something didn't seem right? Its supposed to be lighter than most of those cars, right?

Might be the learning curve for switching to the turbo setup. That c5z about a month before 2k had a novi 2000 blower on it making 9xxhp. So me thinking the way I do I've never owned a turbo car so brake boosting and stuff might take me some time to pick it up right. No excuses but all the cars in this video are badass

The silver Vette really made around 1140 rwhp... Its a stock MN12 Trans and c5z diff.... It's not geared like the TR6060 in the C6z for killer top end... And the MN12 is geared too low to start in 2nd at 60 so he is starting from 3rd, on a 28" tire.. Do the math people... Geared wrong for 60 mph in 3rd, big turbo(some lag) and having to shift it easy to keep the Trans alive and traction..
Vs a larger motor C6Z with a blower that has boost instantly, a 200 shot that hits instantly, and a tranny that can be at 60 mph in 2nd and run 200 mph in 5th on a 28" tire.... With probably 150hp more total..
All in all, I'd say the C5Z did excellent.... And he was only on 19-20 psi.... He has plenty more power to go if he wants to risk hurting it.
That car was trapping 150 mph in the 1/4 when it was making 900rwhp with a blower, easily a 165 mph trap car now....

lol.
Owned a stock trans for years up until recently making close power....shifted much quicker. I have two smaller twins...so my spool is way different..and way quicker(different strokes...)
From what I saw in the video, the shifts where lazy, and the thing lags as a result of that. It is what is is...regardless of how well it did, or didn't do.
Not knocking your buddy....just using my ears.
Also,...I would love to see what "instant boost" looks like on a centrifugal. Any centrifugal. I don't mean instant 7lbs either. NOT saying it doesn't..I would just like to see that. Why? Not to be my normal dickish self..or well kinda but...mostly cause I am building a C6 with the same blower and gearset.
