Man..looks like the Lightning was still blowing off the tires on the run and after two burnouts. I'll bet once the tires hooked, he pulled the 454 SS the rest of the way.
Damn nice run considering the weight on the Lightnings are way up there also. I honestly thought the SS was going to get him up top.

Surprising loss by the SS: The launch is the are I expected the lightning to get ahead. I was expecting that SS to be making 1000+RWHP, what does it actually make?

Not enough info to comment on the outcome, but those are 2 obviously quick trucks! Nice run, better burnouts!

Lightning is sick. I really like the old school Chebby trucks, but those 454SS rigs were turds.

turds is an understatement lol. I swapped one of those engines into my 87 4x4. it's torquey, but they're only 230 hp and struggle to rev over 3000 rpm.

Is that easy to fix? What holds them back? Exhaust, intake, cam? I don't like Chevy trucks but I'll admit I saw one of those driving around my town the other day and I dig it.

pretty much everything holds them back. compression, heads, teeny cam, TBI injection, etc. of course it is just a bbc so all that **** could be gone on this particular truck.

This, the stock 454 in those was meant for campers and towing, not a sport truck. There are 1000s of other parts in the Chevy BBC catalogue that make gobs of more power and torque, Chevy used none of them in these trucks
