C6 ls3 vs camaro zl1

Default C6 ls3 vs camaro zl1

Went to the drags last weekend. When I showed up, the track was empty and there was the ZL1 all by himself in line. When we took of we were door to door from first to second, then after that I started to pull him by 1 car lenght to 1,1/2. I couldnt believe it myself. It was a stock manual zl1, My car 2013 C6 A6 LS3 with LG super pro headers, connected to factory NPP's and dyno tune; LS7 air box. My car put down 393RWHP at 5000+ feet of elevation with stock air intake. The guy was in shock and AWE/upset, I myself was shocked as well cause I thought it would be closer. Did not record it cause i was by myself, but I will upload the time slip. Again I am at like 4000+ feet of elevation my time was a 12.9@ 112, which according to dragtimes corrected is like close to high elevens/low 12s at sea level.

Yeah, I usually beat my friend with my stock LS3 C6, luckily I don't have the pig-like body kit of the Grand sport.
He's barely outdone my ET, but I have a faster ET. With headers and a tune, it'd be ugly.

A ZL1 weighs literally about 1,100 lbs (over half a ton lol) more than your Vette. Really no surprise here at all. Good kill.

my C6 is modded similarly to the op's car (1 7/8" LT's, NPP Tune, stock airbox). it stays ahead of a friend's LT & cammed C7 M7 up to 120 (on stock rubber and both of us feathering throttle).

i believe the op's story is one that would be repeated against any stock ZL1. even with a great driver they only run a high 11 @119-121.

most times whatever i pull him out of the hole by is where we stay a car, car and a half and he can't run me down till we are through the 1/4 and even then it's not rolling by it's a slooooow pass. he says he just can't catch me.

I haven't run my car but I had a mid 11 second (122mph) stroked G8 and i would say this c6 is as fast if not a tad quicker. especially on the move.

also, mine has the 2.56 rear in it. not sure how much quicker a 2.73 rear car (Z51) is?

Here is me dooring in a zl1. Think I went 11.50s this pass. car was leaving soft and I can't get any dam smoke or heat in these tires. And yes I did technally red light and loose.

Any type of 5th gen that's an M6 will run slow at the 1/4 , SS, ZL1, and the Z/28
Us auto guys can run good with minor mods

Literally about? It's either literally or it's not. And the ZL1 has a curb weight of 4,120. Compare that to 3,3XX of the GS. That's about 800lbs, not 1,110. Even a 1lt base C6 weighs around 3,100lbs.
They also make 100hp more, which you failed to mention. 800lb more with 100hp more.

But please tell me more about cars you don't own.

"About" doesn't determine whether or not something is literal. But cool story, Bromeo. And I was thinking that the ZL1 weighed 4300 for some reason. Regardless, it's still a giant weight difference. Also, the ZL1 makes 150 more hp. Not 100.
