Those were some good runs!
Shows just how close these cars are. In some vids, the 1LE wins and in other videos, the 5.0 takes the win.
Possibly just could come down to who has the extra mods and how capable the drivers are.

Love seeing these close Mustang vs Camaro battles. I think what give the Mustang the advantage over the 5th gen is response to mods. I've heard of very few, if any 5th gens going 11s at 116+ with just bolt ons. Not every Coyote is doing it either but it seems to be becoming more common.

On a side note, I can't get over how damn good looking the 1le is. Trying to hold off on getting one though till they release the 6th gen 1le which hopefully won't take forever. Also not convinced that a 5th gen could run with my 4th gen mod for mod. But yeah 1LEs are sex.

The motors themselves make around the same peak hp with mods but the ls3 has better tq. The reason the mustang looks to respond better is the fact it weighs 200-300 lbs less. I'm not makign excuses for either car, I like them both but thats just a fact lol camaro needs to lose weight not more power

new camaro lost 200lbs and new 5.0 gained 200lbs. Just from that its looking bad for the new mustang. The lt1 seems to respond even better to mods as well. I still don't like the looks of the fifth gen or new camaro. I'd take the stang on looks. I like ford's stying better on their newest cars. Especially the gt350R

What's the explanation for it being slower than previous generation stock for stock then?

Supposedly the weight is one thing and there is alot more computer tq managment to help keep that IRS safe. It seems with just a tune the 2015s tend to pick up big power.

Edmunds tested their '15 Premium GT with performance package and some other options @ 3805 lbs. They tested a '11 Premium GT that was loaded as well @ 3620 lbs. The '15 Premium gained more weight than the '15 Base, in comparison.

Premium to premium was more than base to base

This is very true......but it's where the weight is mostly. The clutch in the 5gen is 20lb heavier. It comes with 20" wheels so there is no lighter base model wheels. The gearing difference between the 2 cars are HUGE. I find it funny that most don't want to compare a premium Camaro to premium Mustang they usually want a base mustang to a premium Camaro......we know why .

Sexgen is gonna **** the mustang up.

I honestly don't know what the eff to do really???? I love the 15 5.0 pp manual, I love the look of the 6th gen and that lt1 is really something to brag home about. The only issue I can see is the over invoice on the 6th gen once it drops bc it will be the new kid on the block. I don't give two flying fu**s about brand loyalty and love the look on both cars. A 5th gen (unless Zl1or Z28) was a disappointment to me (yes I had a heads cam full bolt on ls3 manual) sold it after less than a year of ownership.

Now I am a sunroof guy and the 2ss will offer this vs the 5.0 not even an option, this is weighing very heavily on my decision. Either way neither will be stock no longer than a week tops but I do love both cars and will have one before the year is up.

You could always add a sunroof to the 15 5.0. Aftermarket of course. I think it will be hard to beat the 6th gen in the power department. It will be just like the 5.0 did to the 5th gen rape it after a few bolt ons. I think the new LT1 will make some major power with just bolt ons.

OP looked like my encounter with a 1LE last night.

They really need some more power and less weight to compete.
