07ish GT500 vs 05 GTO.
Wasn't much of a race, but I ran an 07-08 GT500. Was cruising down the highway when I noticed a nice looking mustang, once I got closer I realized what it was. I went by him and didn't think much of it, till I saw him creeping up on me near a very sharp turn that opens up into a straightaway. He got in the left lane, and I suspected that his plan was going to be blowing by me after the curve.
Dropped it into 2nd around 30mph and sure enough, he tried it. I let him get the jump, just to make sure he was into it. By the top of second, I had him by a fender and held it into 3rd, when he shut down.
Pretty sure he was bone stock, mine only has a borla catback and CAI. I was expecting to lose

If it was, it was a damn good replica. Stripe, rear spoiler, wheels, exhaust, fake gas cap, etc were all correct for a GT500. I don't think a 3V would have kept up either.
I got to looking and the early GT500 is good for high 12's@111 with a good driver. LS2 goat is good for high 12's@108 with a good driver. Their 0-60 times are very close as well, 4.6 seconds for the GT500 and 4.7 for the GTO. Didn't realize how close they are in racing.

I have beat a 09 GT500 from a 60 roll. Only got up to 90. Had about a half car on him when I let up. That was when I was stock with just a tune.
Guy still had dealer tags on it. Felt bad for the guy, getting beat by a car with 395whp that's supposed to be inferior in a straight line

I agree that I should have lost, but with the heat, an unknown driver, and how short the race was, I can see the GTO hanging on.

Good kill. Anything can happen on the street. LS2 GTOs were always a drivers race at the track with my header/cat-back/gear LT1 Camero. I would often get them by a couple tenths but they would have 1-2 mph advantage on me by the 1/4. I've never been impressed with them in Stock form.

Only thing I have owned that was harder to launch was my 92 T-bird SC. Same size tire, but gobs of torque at 2K RPM.
