Default Raced the new 2015 turbo mustang

Me and a fellow member on tech(chevyman1968) we coming back from New Orleans after a cruise. We were doing some fly by passes to video. i did mine. after he did his, a pair of mustang headlights flew by and got next to him. i knew some competition s of acceleration would happen. Ill let him tell his races.

i did 2 runs with the guy. both from 70-75. the first one i pulled on him by maybe half a car. the second run was very close but i took him again. went from 75, we hit it, car downshifts to 3rd, and we are off. we were dead even till 125-130 when i started pulling him slowly. by 140 i was bout 1/4th of a length in front of him. i would have pull alittle more but the trans redlined when shifting into 4th. i let off and it shifted and i got back into it. i wanted to go from a lower speed like 40-45 mph. i know i would have pulled on him more.

we pulled in a gas station and talked to the guy. real nice guy and cool. his mods were exhaust, tune pushing 22 psi and 6speed.

my mods are in sig. was not on spry. only motor. im pretty happy that my 20 year old car kept up

I think they run 15 PSI stock. The guys at Bama tune got one to run a 12.98 with a tune and the boost cranked up to 22. I'd say your ol LT1 is a good runner for sure.

he said he was putting down little over 300 hp and 350+tq after the tune. i ran 14.1 at the track before LTs. it was my first time at the track. i know it has mid to high 13s with more seat time. so i know his car must run around that.

yea. he said 15psi is stock

Well I ain't got much to say. But I won. Lol. It doesn't matter if you win by and inch or by a mile. Winning Winning.

All seriousness I put at least 3 or 4 lengths on him. Fun nite.

If the car is running well, it should run high 12s any old day. You're selling your car short.

Good runs!

Kind of surprised that they were even close, though.

im just basing my car off of the 1/4 times that i got and comparing it to his car because it was a very close race. stock trim it is 310 hp and 320 tq at the flywheel. with the tune and exhaust, it seems like he will be close to what a bolt on lt1 has.

The new Ecoboost Mustangs run high 13s stock, so one with a tune and a couple bolt-ons *should* be low-mid 13s if he can drive.

all I know is I test drove one of those turbo turds and couldn't believe have crappy they sounded: sounded like a riced out, stripped turbo'd Honda. All intake sucking noises and engine racket. Car would only spin the tires after about 10-15mph when the boost came on. Couldn't get past the horrible sounds of the car to even consider buying it over the V6. Ended up getting a really nice 2015 Chevy Colorado 4x2 shortbed V6 w/ locker and 3.46? gears. Gonna turbo the Colorado and go turbo mustang hunting.

Those ecoboost stangs seem to et well with some mods but don't trap very well. I think that 12.98 run it trapped 104.

This is true. I watched a video of a Tune only Ecoboost Mustang running 12.65 @ I believe it was 106-107. Did a second run at 12.7 with same trap speed.

i read that the v6s are slower and produce less power. found that odd. and the 4 cylinders run close times to the GTs from the previous body style

They're very close to performance with the 3V GTs, with the Ecoboost actually having the slight advantage. But because of the nature of the car, there's more of a margin of error.

On a perfect day, the 3V *should* win in the 1/4 mile, but the Ecoboost is a little stronger from a roll.

As long as they don't have that evil pressure air being shoved into them
