I have had real good luck with Ford's, so I've stuck with them. I've owned Dodge, Chevy's, Nissan's and Ford's, so it's not like I'm brand blind.
Growing up, nobody in my family was into cars, that is something that I acquired on my own and had no one pushing me to one brand over another. Growing up, I loved the 60's GM cars and the 2nd Gen Camero's and the Smokey and the Bandit T/A's from the 70's.
About the time that I was close to getting my license, the Mustang 5.0's were real hot and so that became the car that I wanted. I wasn't a "Ford" person at the time, as I liked more GM's. What drew me to really loving Ford's was GM people's reaction to when a Ford did good in a race or ran for a lot of miles reliably.
People that have had both Ford's knows this hate all too real. LoL, to me it's a form of entertainment to see them get twisted up

Hmmmm

I disagree with Greg and think the 96 LT4 C4 is actually a tad faster than a early C5

96-98 Cobras are tough to drive especially with stock gears. Most of them are shifted to early too. Sorry but stock to stock they will beat an LT1 f body when new. And 99 and up two valve is a good race for both up to about 95mph

It's a close run, but the C5 is a tick quicker, call it a drivers race.

My 97 Cobra was pretty easy to drive. The lack of low end grunt made it easy to launch without blowing the tires off. I disagree on the Cobra besting the LT1, they both ran high 13's-low14's@104ish.

LT5 ZR1 is faster than the C5, the LT4 isn't.

I have gone low 13s in more 96-98 Cobras than I can count. I shift right at the limiter. Best mph 104. Bob Cosby and Barry Shepard taught me to drive them.

Gone 12.9 109 mph in two different 96 C4s. LT4S are a tad underated.

And C5s have gone faster than that, so we can just say it's close enough that it doesn't really matter.

LT1s are trash stock, just like the older Fords, but they respond a LOT better to mods.

When I got my '93 it only had a short ram pep-boys looking "CAI". I took it to the track within the first month after a basic tun-up and it crawled down the 1/4 at only 13.9@98mph - even at a sea level track. With basic bolt-ons it ran 12.8s though.

It responded VERY well to mods, even though it was a turd stock . Hell, just headers and a stall was probably worth .75. Their factory manifolds are a joke compared to the LS1 stock shorties - probably a 10+hp difference between the two right there.

A 12.8 in a 96-98 Cobr0 take gears and a tire. Until you start opening the motor, the 4 valve is likely to be ahead.

I think those manifolds are basically the same as L98's. Hard to believe they could produce something so bad

I have the slip still but I did 12.88 at 108/109 with full bolt-ons, no weight reduction, and on Firestone SZ-50's. The 60' was 1.98. This was with 4.10's. Under geared for a n/a 4v. Anymore gear and it would need a DR.

NVRLTE or whatever his handle is on SVTP, went a 12.95 with exhaust, 4.10's, and street lite big & littles on a M/T Drag Radial.

I think the LT4 C4 and LS1 C5 are close enough to call basically a draw, but I still think the C5 has the edge. The Cobra/LT1 match-up is basically the same, with the edge to the Cobra (not talking about the LT1 SS).

Yeah, that Mystic car is quick. Went low 13s with very little work.

I'm talking whats "normal". Every car is different, so while I'm sure some may do 12.8 with a gear and tire it sure isn't common. I could have mentioned the 11 second bolt-on LT1s as an example but thats unrealistic. The LT1 bolt-on record is faster then my best H/C times, but I don't use that as an example since it is not what the normal owner should expect - you can't use outliers in a data set as the norm. Bitemark races a LOT and just said he needed quite a bit more mods then just gears to run 12.8 "full bolt-ons", and he has a ton of experience in those cars and our track is sea level or lower DA for parts of the year. If anything the average driver would need more mods then him at an average track and without as much experience, making 12s with stock internals out of reach for most guys. With an LT1 its easy.

My car had longtubes, 3200 stall, TB, K&N CAI, mail order tune, and rear suspension (LCAs, Relos, adj TQ arm, sway bar) when I ran the 12.8. Stock salad shooters all around, 3.42 factory gears from a junkyard manual, etc. Not a ton of mods and no trick secrets that people dont post, just the basics. I would consider it completely average of what a properly maintained LT1 will run with basic mods. Plenty have gone faster, and plenty have gone slower.

LT4 took down another terminator last night, i didnt get a video as i was racing him too, vette blew his doors off and i started behind them (they didnt honk so i just hit it when they did) and the terminator pulled me like 2 cars, it was bolt ons tune, ported blower, but not 500 wheel,

he wouldnt line up with me because if we got an even hit i had a fair chance of only loosing by a small amount because they were doing 40 rolls and i suck at those because bottom of second gear is poor.

my 60 roll is amazing and they didnt do any of those

i think he was a dick because i talked to the guys with the yellow terminator from the original post and even he said the guy was a dick
