86 Mustang 5.0 vs. Tesla P85D
Finally popped the Mustang's cherry on the street today. My older brother has a Tesla P85, stock. Looks very similar to this, different wheels he had put on, though.
My car is an 86 Mustang, stock 123k mile shortblock. Trick Flow heads, Holley Intake, reused old custom cam from my last motor, mild 302 with off the shelf parts. I made 350/341 to the tire.
We were rolling about 30mph and had a long stretch in front of us, I was about 3 car lengths behind him. I downshifted because I wanted to pull next to him and honk it off, but he just heard me downshift so he nails it with me about 1.5 cars back. He shoots off pretty hard, those cars shoot out pretty well from low speeds, so I am playing catch up. Wrap out third, hit fourth, end of fourth and there is ~2 cars between my rear bumper and his, so I was about 3 car lengths ahead. I actually pulled fifth and stayed in it for a bit, race ended at about 130 with me between 3 and 4 ahead.
He's my brother and isn't really a car guy, but likes quick cars. In the Tesla, you literally just hit the pedal and it does the rest. He said he didn't expect to win.
Kind of a cool race since we don't all have the opportunity to race Teslas. Next time I am out and have my Mickeys on, we will do a dig.
Sorry no vid, it was an impromptu race and I don't have any method of holding the camera while banging gears.
EDIT: Title is incorrect, it's a P85, not a D.

Thanks islander! I know. The 3 hours I drove it today were so unbearable due to the full race setup I have. I averaged 19mpg on this last tank of gas with mixed driving. Full race.

My brother went to the track with it and ran 12.9 at 106. Is there a P85 and a P85D? Different packages?
I just texted him to be 100% sure.
No problem, I'll get vids next time we run.

I usually don't like older 5.0 I grew up and third gen camaro were (and still are) my ****! So I have always been competing with those damn cars. Both my third gens still have 305 and I run well with them too!
That car with some wheels would be really nice though. I didn't notice till you pointed it out

Third gens are my 2nd favorite generation of Camaro, behind first gens.
I like the squareness and sharp lines of a third gen, I always turn and look when I see a third gen Camaro.
