Default 120mph rolling burnouts?? Yikes! Opinions of gaining more traction

See here.

This is on Mickey Thompson 275/40/17 Drag Radials-a very sticky tire at 20psi of air. I just dont think I should be spinning this bad at 750ish WHP.

Few questions to other RX guys making big power.

1) Gear. I know getting the 4.10 rear out will help- for those that have made the switch how much did a 3.27/3.55 help with traction?

2) Sidewall. In my experience more sidewall helps, but I want to keep high speed stability in check. I cant go wider without modifying the fenders, so a 28 tall on a 15 inch tire is best case.
1) who has made the switch, and what was the gain in traction?
2) How does the car feel at 180mph? Anyone doing mile races running that much sidewall on a 200+ mph car?

3) More tire. Right now, I can only go taller. If there is no hope, I am not opposed to pulling out the sidewall and going to town, but its not my preference. Has anyone gone wider (and how wide please) and seen a big improvement?

Thanks! all opinions welcome.

I have a buddy who made around 650-700whp in his 5.3 Turbo RX7, was running MT ET streets and didn't like how they felt on the highway. Switched to R888's and loved them.

Get an auto. Not only will it be fast, but you won't be blowing the tires off with each shift

edit: also the pro radials i've found bite more linearly instead of just spinning a bunch and then hooking.

Maybe get a speedo calibration? That looked like 45 mph not 120 lol

The R888's dont have the bite on the Et's in my exepreince. I need more hook, not less!

Pro's are ont he horizon, but I want to get the car working well first. Auto-when I retored and get my AARP card.

I assume more tire will help, but I'd like someone that has exerience with adding just sidewall give me an honest back to back before I make the investment.

On the V I was wider with smaller sidewalls and I burned more tire. Once we upped the sidewall and lowered the width it actually got better traction. Then again my car is a 1500wtq car so the difference was minimal but it was there.

As an update- i did some digging last night and found and easy cheap way to make camber adjusters with $10 Prelude tire rod links. Sketchy, but it should work. Wont deal with it until is on an alignment rack.

Also checked the coil overs...well they were 2 clicks away from full soft! 16 "way" adjustable, I am trying them now at one click from full stiff.

Also raised the car 1.5 inches to try and get some of the camber out.

Did a burn out to get the "marbles" off the tires that the MT's develop. Test drive to work showed significant improvement at low boost. It still spins through 4th on 17psi, but it does seem to have more forward momentum while spinning. Hard to tell without a V box or racing a known car, but its for sure better.

If I keep the IRS over winter- I will make all adjustable links to dial our the camber and will be finding a way to fit some MT pros back there.
