01 Trans am vs 5.bro
Finally caught a red light with a 5.0, I've been wanting to run one since they came out. I've had my car since 2005 but I drive a service truck for work now and with a family 2 young daughters and other hobbies I hardly get any miles on the TA anymore.
In fact it sat in my garage for almost 2 years because I live in Ca and the dmv boned me when my 2013 registration was due by specifying I had to go through a s.t.a.r. Certified smog shop whom my normal hookup was not. Finally a couple months ago I decided to pull of my LT's and high flow cats off and put the stock stuff and the air pump back on to get her smoged so I can drive it again.
Long story short this is the first real run with the car in over 2 years with mods in sig minus long tubes and high flow cats. This was our second race, the first was the same outcome. I was a little nervous on the first one because of a lot of other threads in here making it seem like I wouldn't stand a chance without a cam but I wasn't impressed

I'm pretty sure yea, he said he's had it 6 months, on the other hand mine has 157k on it and I've had it 10 years lol. Btw I was on nitto dr's at 30psi for this run and I didn't have a passenger

Stock exhaust taking out a 5 bro.
I raced 5 with all different mods 2 nights ago. Not impressed at all.
Raced a bro with 385 and 390 wheel, he took an L from a 60 roll. When that car hit 5th gear it looked like it ran out of nitrous (just a comparison, it wasn't on spray)

Idk Fast enough to make it a race I was hoping... Don't they run the times in my sig stock? And I'm assuming I'm close to .2 slower and 2mph less since switching back to stock manifolds/cats

Nothing special and it's been several years since I've done anything to it but if I had to list every minor thing;
Did all the free mods, Fiberglass ws6 hood, lid w/k&n, fernco smooth bellow, p&p tb (by myself), msd wires, ngk tr55's, poly motor/ trans mounts, yank pt3800, tranny cooler, billit servo, custom true duals w/ dynomax bullets, umi lca's & phb, 3.73's, poly swaybar links, and had it tuned with efi live for the LT's but haven't re tuned it since removing them (idk if this is hurting me at all)
Also never got a re tune after putting 3.73's in so my speedo reads fast but here's a dash vid I took of a 1/4mi run on the street right after going back to stock manifolds

Nice kill op. From what I have seen in the real world with 5.bro and ls1 cars, it just boils down to mods. They are competitive cars and the truth lies in the middle. % 99 of the time they are not as fast or as slow as people portray them, and there is only one way to find out like you did.

Good run! You pulled him pretty good. As already stated, stalled autos are a handful for stick cars especially on the street.
The 5.0 has been hyped up pretty good on the internet, no doubt. In stock form, they run OK but I do think they begin to shine with modifications.
