1998 Grand Prix GTP > 2001 Cobra
I ran to the gas station a little while ago to fill up with premium and grab something to eat. Right after I got done filling up a Mustang pulls up with blacked out wheels. Too kids in it, looked about 18-19 at the most. License plate read "01 cobra" and had the cobra badges ect. So I'm walking into the station at the same time they're getting out of the car and walking in. I asked them if there was anything done to the car and one of them said it had a cold air intake and flo masters. I said the car looked nice and then I asked them if they wanted to race a Grand Prix. I pointed to my car. The one kid kind of giggled and said "dude that's a cobra with a V8 so your V6 don't stand a chance". I just smiled and was like "oh, really?? It must be pretty fast then". He said yeah it gets up and boogies. I just kind of nodded and agreed with him . Then they walked off and went to pay for their items. I walked back out to my car and waited for them to get back in theirs and leave. I followed them out and what do ya know?? We get the first stop light together. So I get them a little rev and the driver just glares at me with a cocky look on his face, as I'm smiling at him. Light turns green and I give it a good stab off the line as I hear the cobra's tires break loose. I put a good 3 cars on them through first gear, hit 2nd and they just stay where they are maybe slightly reeling me back in. Hit 3rd gear at about 90 mph and then they're coming a little harder but we're still about a car behind at 100 mph. That's when I had to let off. They blew by me of course after I let off. Probably embarrassed after the snack that just talked. I wish I could have told them that they got beat by a 99% stock Grand Prix. Just has a drop in k&n filter. And 186k miles but that's nothing for these 3800s. I had forgotten how much fun a sleeper is!

Oh no, not by a long shot, just sad that all of the SC cars are FWD. I have a 3.8L 5 speed Camaro right now and I guarantee that it would give an NPI mustang a run for it's money.
Always thought the GM 3.8L SC was lacking in torque, especially considering the the Ford 3.8L puts out 230hp/330FTlbs. The GM seemed to be stronger in the mid and high range. The ford was out of steam at 4500RPM.

I bet it could take your car from 0 to 60. All seasons vs all seasons.

A smaller pulley needs exhaust mods, so your brothers car was probably seeing a **** load of KR, and maybe slower than stock. Stock NA cobras are slow, bro.

It did have Knock but was erased when he ran some type of race gas can't remember. The stock Cobra was actually a 99 and went 13.50@105....x pipe mufflers 4:10s drag radials it went 12.50@110

Try mid 14s. Maybe quicker with a filter and a perfect launch. This was a random encounter with my DD lol. Sorry that I found humor in a 20 year old front wheel drive v6 platform beating the big bad 4v modular engine.
You're just salty because you're a ford fuckboy er I mean fanboy, and one lost to my cheerleader car.
