Default 5.br0 vs LS2 GTO

My roommate raced a GTO this weekend. GTO has an iron block swap and a cam with bolt ons. Br0 has a cat less x and a bama tune.

Gto would have done better with a better driver for sure but up top it still wouldn't have mattered. #br0lyfe

Good kill. Shows what the Coyotah does to LS motors in similar weight cars.

Honestly I thought the GTO would have lost by more being it was cam and ?basic boltons? only. As it was, a driver mod could have kept that GTO at the 5.0 rear quarter panel IMO

huh? GTO without the iron block is pushing 3800lbs, with that iron block is gonna be closer to 4000lbs versus a 5.0 weighing in around 3550-3600 right? 400 pounds difference is NOT apples to apples. you think so, go race a C5Z making the same power as your 5.0

I think a stock m6 goat is 3720 (mine was anyway), so with an iron block i think 3800 even is more like it. He was also running no catback so that saved a couple pounds. Mustang was 3520 with no people in it. GTO is also running a ported stock intake mani. The cam was something like a 224/231.

Ls2 gto's run hard (m6), i still miss my cammed ls2 goat! In this instance the br0 clearly and fairly brought home the bacon. Again I wouldn't cringe at owning either one

That's on the light side for them.

That being said, Goats can drop a lot of weight easily without affecting the drivability of the car.

My buddy has a cam'd 6.0 with exhaust, intake and 3200 stall. He is making 415 to the wheels. Car runs hard and is no slouch. Your roomate did pretty good to get him up top like that, OP.
I think the weight on the GTO has always been a problem for them.

I almost feel bad for the kid, I raced him last year and beat him about the same if not worse and he later accused me of having spray. We finally convinced him that I didn't and then this happens and he was like "Damn, I can't seem to beat any mustangs around here." Made me chuckle a bit.

It just shows what a 5.0 can do to an LS equipped car at the same weight range...
