Default 650 rwhp KB Cobra vs 150 shot HCI LQ9

Met this guy at a local car show the other day, and started talking. Long story short we decided before hand to play around a little on the freeway instead of doing the car cruise that was about to take place. His mods were a KB 2.8 03 Cobra running about 20 psi on E85, and it made 654 rwhp to be exact, and of course my mods are in my signature. Take it to the freeway and I drop down to 3rd at about 55 mph, and he drops to 2nd since he has stock gears (we decided this before hand to be a good spot for both of us) and I honk it off and off we went. For the first couple of seconds it was very even, but when he shifted into 3rd he dropped back a solid half car. From there on out he seemed to be at my bumper but could not gain at all. Took it to the top of 4th (for me around 125 mph) then shut down down. Ran one more time the same way with pretty much the same results. He said his best was 11.2 @ 131 on his 18" dr's. Car was full weight with IRS and all that. All in all I was happy with the outcome, since I figured the race could go either way. Cool guy, we exchanged numbers, and only live about 20 miles apart, so hopefully we will get together soon. I told him next time we need video, and he definitely agreed lol. He did say that he thought he would have the edge against me (has raced other f-bodies before) so he was impressed with my ride. Also said my exhaust was killing his ears since his window was at my rear basically lol

Thank you! To be honest though, this is really just a budget build, but it seems to like the nitrous lol

Nice kill, I wish I went with spray and kept my old car.
How much power ball park do you think it makes on the spray? Also is this setup like the other cobra you run?

Thanks man! If you're talking about my buddy's old Cobra who I've raced several times then no. His was a ported Eaton with spray. It's now a Kenne Bell with 750 rwhp so I'm sure I have no chance lol.

I should be around 450 or so n/a, so I'm guessing close to 600 on the 150 shot. Problem is the 4.10's are too much on the nitrous. Even with 315 NTO5R dr's I can't hook till 3rd. The one fortunate side effect of that though is I can spray at 45-50 mph in 3rd due to having the 4.10's...which is ironically my sweet spot in 2nd running n/a

So looking at your signature I'm guessing you're running a turbo now? If so, what makes you wish to have your old car back but with spray?

Hard to say, but I wouldn't even try with this 10 bolt. He's got a little hp on me but I've got the TQ advantage, so I'm thinking it might be close with equal drivers. He said it trapped 131 mph on a hot summer day, so based on this race I'm sure I'm trapping in this range as well

It sucks living in that "what if" fear doesn't it lol? Having the 10 bolt in a high power application takes a lot of fun out of the whole driving experience, because you're constantly worried. I honestly feel that this is the only thing that really worries me about my car...the rest I'm fairly confident in
