Cobra could have walked the vette if it was a auto. As it was, his clutch was slipping and his shifting sucked ***** (whether it's the transmissions fault or drivers, results are "sucked *****").

As for what the stang "should have done"? Those '96 Cobra's are mid 14 second cars stock. When you take something that low powered/slow and build it n boost it your results will invariably vary no matter what your build goals are: and we don't know WHAT his goals were on that build. I bet he went the 'fun street car' route versus all out street strip monster. Good for him.

Semi good post sticks.

A little clutch slip like that will never hurt acceleration. .....possibly even help it.

Idk what the mods are in the vette. But it would take supercharged 96 cobro to even think of getting in the same realm as a bolt on ls3 vette.

Guy with the cobro could be waiting to turnt it up for all we know. A built motor should take it. But a stock motor in those with their weak rods won't keep up with a good bolt on ls3 vette.

A good running bolt on blown Cobra with stock internals can run 117-118 in good air with 8 psi on pump. My favorite Combo with those. I wish Ballpein Hammer would crank his Mystic up

It is a supercharged Cobra, and judging by the lack of blower whine it's a centri blower.

My gut instinct when watching that vid was that his clutch was slipping until he got past his (too low IMO) torque peak which does kill accel. His built motor obviously had either stock or mid range torquer style cams that don't jive with the high end power of a centri blower. Sounds great in theory, kinda like twin turbo's sound great in theory vs single turbo, but reality says differently.

Sounds like the Cobra is skipping gears when shifting. Seems like rpm's drop way too low, even worse than if it had 2.73's with a T45. I wonder what's up with that...?

Looks like a typical boosted ford race to me.

Yup...there were several running like that around here. Jason's turbo mach went 123 or 124 on 8 psi and that's a better engine than a 96 4v.

I think it may have spun when he jumped on the throttle there.

Stock times are all over the place for the 96-98 Cobra. My cousin's buddy went 13.8 stock on the stock 245 tires and that same car gave my 97 LBO WS6 a good run from a roll as our trap speeds were pretty similar and his higher mph runs were better.

Good runs but what is up with that shifting? I do not want to take shots at the guy since it could have been a mechanical issue, but better driving (or "proper" setup) could have changed the outcome of those races. imo

Those Cobras are tough to drive hence ET all over the place. You need to shift it right before the limiter. I have found the 98s for some reason ran faster than the 96-97 cars.

98 cobras has plastic IMRCs and are cheap. The faster cobra is the one with IMRC deletes or ones that work

The hell was wrong with that thing? Sounded like it was pulling from 3kRPM on each shift.

Best thing I ever did was buy a Steeda Firewall adjuster. The factory one is pretty bad and will not adjust after a period of time or after hard driving at the track. Supposedly, there was an adjustment by pulling up on the pedal multiple times but it seemed that it would do absolutely nothing after a while. With a 1/2 to 1 click of the adjuster, I can pretty much raise or lower the pedal and take slack off the TOB.
