13' ZL1 vs Boss 302
So I ran into a buddy that I haven't seen in a long time and it just so happens that he was driving a Boss. We did the catch up chat and I was admiring is car. He said it had cams and obviously tuned. This thing sounded nasty. I loved it. After we pulled out of the parking lot he pulls beside me and drops down to run. So, obliged and did the same we started at 35. I was in second. As soon as we started it was over we had a perfect count launch and I immediately jumped out a car and continued put more on him. By 60 I had 3 on him and shut down. There was no point on going any longer it would have just gotten worse for him. He pulled back up to me and said "holy God! That thing is quick." I was just as shocked as he was. I expected to get destroyed but it didn't happen that way. It kinda makes me wonder if something hasn't already been done to my car since I bought it used with 12k on it. It does have some after exterior lighting and a cold air. Whoever had it before at least knew about the exhaust fuse pull mod because it was done. Does this seem right?

Why would you do a 35 in second? Do you purposely want your car to perform like ****?
Did you leave the traction control on too?
You got lucky you didnt happen to be racing a guy that calitalized on your lack of experience.

Now that I think about it, the story sounds pretty weak.... at 35mph in 2nd gear (2,700rpms) and by 60mph (4,700rpms) you had 3 cars on him???
So not only were you way below your power band, but in a span of only 2,000 rpms you were 3 cars out???

I have found that a first gear launch in this car is pointless. It just spins, immediately hits the rev limiter and goes into limp mode. It seems to really like the 2nd around 35 for what ever reason. IDK what the actual RPMs were. I'll have to check when I get a chance. I don't like the car because it always seems to go into limp mode before the engine sounds like it is ready for a gear change... I'm ready to get rid of it. The wife loves it and doesn't want me to...
We are planning to get together when he's not on the flight schedule, wish I was still flying, to go play. I will definitely have some better information and hopefully vids of some sort.
He may have spun but I was in no position to tell. He didn't say he spun so IDK.

Sounds about right to me. Blower car with instant tq vs a cammed 5br0 with limited vvti which helps their bottom end tq. At 35 the boss was likely in 2nd gear also......making it dead in the water.

I'm the second owner and the only thing I can tell is the CAI. If anything else had been done they didn't share it with me. I'm not very familiar with other LS engine sounds but, it certainly doesn't sound like it has a cam. Pulleys, blower/blower lid, throttle body and exhaust all look to be stock. There is nothing visible that suggests that there have been mods. Tune maybe?
