cousin in stock 99 lightning thinks he has something My cousin just picked up a 99 Lightning, its bone stock. So he ran it on the g-tech the other day. i asked him what he ran, he says everyone wants to know that, hes like u need to race me to find out.
My car ran a 13.3 with just a lid and cutout on the g-tech at like 106 mph, at the track i ran a 13.1@108
so i did alittle researching on the internet and found a post he made on one of the mustang sites

nah hes not that dumb, hes got money to throw away so i'll just take him for $100. its more about pride anyways. plus i only paid $4000 for my car and he just paid $16000 so, in my eyes even if i lost by a nose i still won, but he dont stand a chance, hopefully i will have vid of this race in a couple weeks, my car is going in next week for the tranny, then i need to break it in, then tune...... cant wait

bought it on ebay in May, dont think they knew what they had, they didnt even post it as a Z28. Car has been great to me besides the tranny letting go, but if you knew how i drove you would know why. body is flawless also.
I wouldnt have bought had it not been so cheap

it had 129,000 but looked and ran like it had 29,000 really i was so amazed by the condition. drove it home 5 hours without a sweat, never had an issue til my 2nd gear let go recently, but i'm very very hard on the car.

I was told that the G tech units are usually .2-.3 tenths faster than actually running in the 1/4. I will give the Lightning is due they are a nice truck that has tons of potential but the 99 dont have near the performance as the 02 and 03. I also heard the last 2 years they were built had manley rods and some other stuff changed in them that can handle more boost. There is a guy in my area that has a pullied and chiped one that only made 380 rwhp and its a 99 as well. The newer ones stock makes 340 rwhp. I recall them dynoing one on Trucks when the supercharged Lightning came out and it produced 320 rwhp. My prediction he will take you off the line since you have 2.73 gears but you will come back very fast and burn him easily since you run low 13's. Just spank his *** and shut him up!

Based on the op's post I would say the opposite on the .2-.3 seconds faster than at the track. With my "g-tech" hooked up it showed me at 12.54@114, completely spinning through first of course, so at the track I'm expecting very low 12's...we'll see
