I was riding with one of my buddies at the local hangout in his stang (cold-air and 4.10, hedman LT's,x-pipe,flows, are his mods) He was looking for a race and we talked a stock lt1 with a shift plus into racing. So when the light changes we had the lead for about 2 seconds ... the lt1 ran off and left us by about 5-6 cars before we had to slow down...im glad i wasnt driving because it was embarassing. Should his car be faster or is it just possible the lt1 had more than what he said?

I"d say the LT1 had more than what he said. What did the car sound like was? It's really easy to tell if there's exhaust work done. Also what year mustang were you in?

what year is the 4.6, my buddy had an 02gt vert 5speed with LT's, intake,3.73 and he could stomp pretty much stock lt1's from a dig all the way till about 90 when his gearing fell off.

If it was a 96-98.. He would get romped because they are only rated at 225 HP, and I promise they aren't underrated.

I am surprised if it was a 99+ He could of been a bad driver along with no traction maybe?

yeah, if it was a 96-97 GT, a stock LT1 F-body wouldnt have much of a problem beating it. Ive seen V6 F-bodys with basic bolt on's & 70 shot walk away from a 96 GT with exhaust & gears.


96 was the first and worst year for the 4.6 mustangs.

I'm not sure about the 96-98 GT's, but I drove a friends '97 Cobra (I think that was the year )...anyway, I couldn't believe how pathetic it was. He bought a '01 WS6 next. I asked him which felt faster. He said they were about the same. I think he was trying to save face with the stang.

Yea when you drive a modded 03 Cobra... a n/a cobra is definetely gonna seem pretty slow.

I got to drive a new 05 GT and it seemed just as slow as a v6 mustang to be...but thats because im use to driving my 500+hp mustang

I drove my buddy's '97 back when I had a 13 second LS1. That thing was pathetic.

Sorry i havent responded... it is a 97, and the lt1 sounded like a mean v-6, the exhaust didnt sound that great at all. He is lookin at an 03 cobra, and im tryin to find an SS what mods will i have to have to beat him? (i know this is off topic sorry)
