Default 360 MODENA vs. MONSTER MIATA

Well, I was borrowing a friends Monster Miata yesterday and cruising north on coast highway to look at all the nice cars. I was headed toward Laguna beach and a beautiful black Ferrari Modena pulls up next to me and we were just messin' around for a little bit. He knew something was up with the Miata cause it sounds like a beast. Mods that I know about are (Heads, Cam, Intake, Headers, X-pipe, and some cusom mufflers). The exhaust doesn't go all the way back. The Ferrari guy had his girl in the car with him so I didn't really think he would want to do anything to crazy. We had an insane stretch of road in front of us and were coming up to a stop light, now we were going pretty slow by this time but I'm not sure exactly how fast cause the speedo and the tach don't work, I was in first gear though. We were right next to each other pulling up to the light and it changes. As soon as it went green we both hit it and I jumped about 1/2 a car. I slammed second and we both held our ground and kept our positions. Riding second to 6 grand I nailed third and very slowly started pulling away and let off at the top of third. The guy was really cool. He pulled up next to me and was like "man that was amazing, nice run". We then went our seperate ways.

Then not 5 minutes later I about crapped my pants cause I pulled up behind a Mclaren SLR. I wasn't even gonna try to race this guy I just wanted to talk to him for a second. He was a dick though and wouldn't even role his window down so I could tell him that I loved his car. Oh well, I was still in a great mood from the Ferrari run...

First, good kill!

Second, you state "monster miata"...

I'm guessing it had a 5.0 in it!?!?! Those things are REDICULOUS! The power to weight is un-freakin-believeable!

Um, how did you know you were pulling the motor to 6 grand as you stated if the tach is non functional? Shiftlight.....? Pretty hard to know exactly where you are in RPM's without some sort of indicator, especially when you're sweaty palmed, racing a ferrari on the street.

Aside from all that, those Monster Miatas are very cool.

little cars + v8's = lots of fun. The rx7 im building (1st gen) should be around 2600lbs with me in it, and make an easy 500hp to the tires with the turbo 302 im building for it

I was about to say at least 130 but then I just caught myself and realized we're not talking about Mclaren F1's.

Faster than your sig by more than a jet swap!!

Kinda surprised you didn't beat the Modena by more than that...

I have a buddy in San Marcos, CA with a shop. He built a couple Miatas with some pretty sick motors, i.e. 347 w/ TFS heads, Vortech makin around 600+ to tha whells!

The only way I could tell was because the rev limiter is set at 6000 rpm. I just hit it and then shifted. I wanted to make sure I didn't give him any room to gain on me.

Yeah, this one is just a little over 300 to the ground. Still a lot for a little miata but not quite 600. Also, if I had a camera I would take a picture of the tires. THOSE THINGS ARE GONE!!!
