SS vs 05 GT??
How do you guys think I would do against an 05 Mustang GT. Ive got two possible races one against my cousins car which is an auto and one against a friends car which is stick. My mods are, if you can even call them mods are lid and short throw shifter. Oh yeah Ive got a 02 SS M6. The only thing Im worried about is my launch Ive got to ease into it otherwise I get no traction(I know I need DR's).
Ive previously ran agianst a 97LT1 auto and put about 2 1/2 cars on him and a 99LS1 M6 which i put about 3 cars on(the guy couldnt drive).

So, what are stock 05 GTs running out of the box. My buddy has been bugging the hell out of me to run a guy he works with, but we never have been in the same place at the same time. I usually try to get people to put up alittle gas money(or more). These things aren't that fast, are they? Thanks

autos are typically not faster in the 1/4 due to a less efficient drivetrain (which equates to less power getting to the wheels), and slightly higher gearing. the upside to their wider spaced gears is better traction.
gt's that ive seen tested in mags are running high 13's at around 101-103. dont know how they are on the street though. hope this helps. -g
oh.. and yes, you WILL take the gt, no doubt about it.

The autos are not like the old Ford auto..they are running the same or better than the stick's..unlike an 04 GT.
You should be trapping at about 5-8 mph faster than a stock GT so you will pull hard at about the 1/8.

I actually drove 2 GT's, 1 both type tranni, and I guarantee you, you will easily beat both of them. They have no pull at all past 4K, esp in 3rd gear or past 65 mph. You won't even have to power shift or worry if you bog down or spin outta the whole. This is an easy win!

^ The difference is the gears. 1st, 2nd, 3rd...are shorter then the manual I believe. Freaking Motor Trend got a 13.6 out of an auto. And then some other magazine drove the GT manual like they stole it and only managed to get like a 13.8. But I've heard the autos trap PATHETIC because to make up for the shorter first 3 gears, 4th and 5th are geared way too tall.
