FINALLY killed a '97 GT
Okay, a little bit of backstory. This 'lil daddy's boy came to my shop one day asking about a Hypertech chip. He has a '97 Mustang GT with a Flowmaster exhaust and some kind of CAI. He thinks he's the hot s**t. I saw that the dyno graph for his car showed 206 rwhp *after* the chip. I chuckled at that and said mine made more than 100 more. Went outside and revved the 'camaro up ( I had the Magnaflow on at the time ) He and his friend looked at me really angrily, as if I insulted their pride somehow. Anyhow, since then, he's been coming by the Chevron next to my work every few days, looking at me, and then hauling *** out of the gas station. I could never get to my car in time to give chase, cause he would drive off, and my manager would frown upon it anyway. This had been going on for a few months.
Yesterday, I saw him pass by while I was on my lunch break, but the light I was at took forever to change, so I thought that I lost him. Five miles down the road, guess who I see at a light... The driver is nuts, so he started going WOT and weaving through traffic. The cars were pretty close together, so I carefully made my way through. We finally got in the clear, and he went WOT a few seconds before I could. I hit 130+ passing him, easily pulling him hard. He was probably just over 100.
We kicked it again from about 80, it was an instant pull. I proceeded to put aircraft carrier lengths on him. Watching the look on his face was classic it was the "Oh s**t!" look. We came to a light and stopped. He rolled down his window and asked if it was an auto. I told him yeah, he said "That thing pulls hard as hell." He asked what I had done to it. I told him just bolt ons. He said "I thought you were spraying me!" I told him that if I were spraying him, I would have been out of sight.
We took off from the light and I held it down in second, waiting for him to try and steal the hit. I saw his front end outside my passenger window, then heard him hit it. As soon as he did, I laid into it, and the car put three carlengths on him instantly. The tires broke loose at the top of second, and chirped going into 3rd ( about 75 ), I looked back to see him about a quarter mile back at 100. I love putting cocky 'stang drivers in their place. It was especially satisfying after seeing him pull out everyday.

good kill but ..
You really didn't have to do that.. its well known that the 97 GTs were/are **** slow..
You could've just helped him out as a customer and then romped his cocky-attitude later on..

Well, this little ***** came into my shop, which is a truck shop, with an attitude of "my car is the bestest, I are so fast. 1 oWnzOr j00!", so of course I wanted to knock his ego down a peg or two.
And enisguy is right, there are some fast ones out there. I got my lunch eaten one time before the headers, tds, and gears by one with heads/cam/100 shot. But most of them quickly become specks in the rear view.
Like I said, this wasn't an awesome kill, it was just personally satisfying to crush the ego of some 17 year old kid thinking that he's the king of all cars.

Speaking of fast GT's, there was one with a Procharger puttin' down 410 at the dyno in Birmingham on the day I had my car tuned. Luckily, we don't have many Mustang guys that serious around here. Most are just ricers in domestic clothing. Always some excuse...

I dynoed right after a 97' Stang that put down 190rwhp. I was in my 96' LT1 putting down 270rwhp at that time. The guy was disappointed with his numbers and then looked at mine. He says "Oh, I don't feel so bad now. At least I'm runnin' close to you." WTF? 80hp difference is close? Wait until he runs somebody with an 80hp advantage. He'll find out how close that is.

You definately wouldn't think its as fast as it is but its loud as hell. I actually had a guy in a 400rwhp SS not want to race recently? I had to explain to him that the chances of a GT beating him were slim to none.
