She needs a better line....
SHE (my financial manager, conscience, and many other things) took my SS to the store today. Ordinarily not a big problem.
HOWEVER a couple of kids in a big ole Dodge pickup pulled up next to her, did a bit of a burnout and tried to get her to race. She didn't (which is a GOOD thing). When they asked her why, she said......"I'm too mature for that."
What's wrong with these responses?
1. I'm breaking in a new cam/gears/tranny whatever
2. Got a bad tire (it actually has two bad tires)
3. I'm down to my last two drops of gas - if I race you I won't make it to the gas station (yeah, this one is weak, but it beats hers!!)
4. I'd love to, but I have eggs in the back - don't want to mess up the carpet
Come on!! "I'm too mature for that?"
So that's my first "racing" story (sort of) and I wasn't even in the car.
****, the least she could have done laugh at them - a Dodge truck?? Come on!!!

My mom lives 1200 miles away or I'd have the same problem - she has a Hyundai Tiburon 6 speed - no, not a quarter mile terror, but in small town nowhere she has a pretty zippy car and LOVES running the R's up from a stoplight.
Thing is about my other half and her "I'm too mature....." She has friends that used to run dirt track oval cars and she's driven it several times - not during a race, but she's done some hot laps. Not to mention the fact that she REGULARLY embarasses dorks in BMWs and the like in her car - she's got a Taurus with the 200hp DOHC engine in it. As a matter of fact, one of the MANY times it was in the shop the loaner was a measly 150hp Taurus and she complained.
I think I'm going to get her into SCCA Solo II (I'm dying to start myself!)
