Default Uh-oh! ... damned Kenne Bell Cobra ...

Just got beat ... three runs on an empty 4-lane with a '03 Cobra ... from about a 20 mph roll in first gear, each time. Each time I would pull ahead radically until I would hit about 50 mph and then he would begin pulling on me. ****! That damn thing was CRAZY fast!!!!

By the time I hit 60, he was beside me, slamming another gear and pulling ahead ... must've been ahead by a full car length, by the time I hit 80 mph and backed off.

I didn't know that the Kenne Bell stickers meant way more boost/power over the factory-installed Eaton S/C. Next time I see Kenne Bell stickers on a Cobra, I'll damn sure have my underdrive pulley and heads before I race them over 60 mph.

Dude, I was SMOKIN' his *** every time ... before that S/C wound up and snapped. Son-of-bitch let loose like and demon straight out of hell at about 50-60 mph!!!

Last run finished and we rolled the windows down and I gave him the thumbs up and complimented him on his car. He says, It's stock with JUST a Kenne Belle supercharger ... didn't know what that meant until I looked online just a few minutes ago. Then, I felt pretty good about holding on as well as I did.

Heads, U/D pulley, 100 shot (for insurance only), and I know what I'm hunting for. Snake season coming up soon ...

I'll bet you jumped ahead so much because he couldn't get traction at first.

So everything was stock excepet the blower? He has a lot more power to make if that's really the case. If he had all the bolt-ons he probably was spinning. Nice death though. It's cool to see people post regardless of the outcome.

... couldn't tell if he was spinning. I doubt he was spinning more than I was. The Nitto's dug really well and stuck perfectly when I hit second, though (A4). It was a lot of fun and three really good races.

Unless he was on real sticky tire himself, I would think he'd have had much more of a traction problem than you did on Nittos (especially since it sounded like he walked you AFTER you got traction).

IMO, no KB Cobra worth a damn is hooking up in first gear on anything short of an ET Drag (and a warm one at that). Sounds like you guys had some fun though. Nice deaths.

FYI, twin-screw blowers don't need to "spool-up", he should have been close to full boost almost immediately.

You'll need heads, U/D pulley and a 200 shot. Even with that, you'll need some luck also.

You'll still need to spray that 2007 Shelby GT500 to keep up with a KB Cobra

WhiteTXMach > stock Cobra > K/B supercharger = KNOWING without boltons, exhaust, injectors, fuel upgrades it ain't makin' **** more than it was last night. Read the post ... you're just trying to start some **** because of the last post where you were dicking with me with your buddies supporting you. I raced A STOCK COBRA WITH KB SUPERCHARGER ... that's what this thread is all about ... NOT about the capabilities of the S/C.

The KB S/C at 26 lbs of boost and with supporting mods is capable of over 700 RWHP. But then, so is the LS1. You don't have an arguement ... put that Eaton back on and I'll eat that stock Cobra alive.

Try blowing 700rwhp through an ls1 stock bottom end and see what happens. <----engine will look like this.

Gotta respect the fact that the Cobra's stock bottom end is built like Ft. Knox.

That's what I was saying (see below) ... about the KB Cobra.

I didn't know that the Kenne Bell stickers meant way more boost/power over the factory-installed Eaton S/C. Next time I see Kenne Bell stickers on a Cobra, I'll damn sure have my underdrive pulley and heads before I race them over 60 mph.
As for the stock-to-mildly modified '03 '04 Cobra's, I watched 'em run at the dragstrip all day long at Fun Ford Weekend a couple weeks ago. They were mostly running mid 12's to low-13's on average. One of them broke a 12.2. Now, there were a couple of Cobra's that were low/mid 11's (they were probably KB's) or were on juice.

It was funny. I think that I must've been about the only GM guy there. Several of the older 5.0's were running 8's and one even ran a 7.92. Guess who installed my cam? the Ford guys at Lamotta Peformance have nothing against Ford's. My dad was a Ford guy. Agreed, Ford did a good job on the forged internals/bottom cube.

Ironic ... the dude who beat me last night had GEORGIA license plates ...

Hmm.. there was a local guy with a KB, bolt ons and small shot of juice (supposedly just to cool intake charge). He put down 750rwhp I think. Well... that was before engine trouble.
