My friend has an import, says if V8's out run an import it has no bragging rights!!
My friend has a 94 twin turbo supra and a 95 mr2 also turbo. He says that if a V8 out runs an import that it has no bragging rights. But if a import out runs a v8 than there is bagging rights. Take the fact that they have to have turbo's to even get over 200 horsepower and a little nitrous help to keep up with a stock Ta or SS. I think they have no bragging rights at all considering that they are lighter and most ricers that are quick have turbos. With the technology today they can build there cars to run with our Stock V8's. I dont under stand why he says that but i think a race is a race, if you are stupid enough to run your 180hp civic up against a 340horse Ta or Camaro then if you loose that's your dumb *** fault. Just wanted to know what you guys think on the bragging rights thing.

I agree with FIREHAWK...however I do think you went a little overboard on the import hating though. I agree there are a lot of freakin' idiots out there that drive imports but your facts are a little bit off on what it takes to make power. I also think that if a car is fast it deserves props no matter what it is. My 2 cents...

Ok you have a point. Take an import for instance. It put your top dollar into the engine build it to maximum compacity. Take your domestic build it to maximum compacity. Dollar for Dollar who will have the fastest more powerfull motor. I aint knocking imports I like rx7 that is my favorite import off all time but there is one key to this whole topic. No replacement for displacement.

I mean come on man my car club is nothing but mostly imports. Nothing against them but they just cant match us dollar for dollar. Its a whole lot cheaper to build a $4,000 V8 that will still keep up or even out run a $10,000 v6 or 4cyl.

yup i agree,
but on the bragging rights thing they use that as an excuss. if u win they say of course u did u got extra cylinders and the fact that i have a power adder means nothin. and if u loose then domestics are overrated and his car is king dingaling.
Ricers(not imports) are gay

I don't care what your friend thinks, if a modded v8 beats even a stock supra in a race from say... 80mph to 140mph, that v8 has some braggin rights. Same thing if you pull a better 60' time in your rwd v8 than the guy next to you in his AWD sti/evo.
It's all circumstances.
Switching them around... pulling the sti/evo 80-140 or getting the bette 60' time than the supra isn't nearly so impressive.

Alright man, I'm really not trying to start anything stupid here. But first, how am I supposed to know anything about your car club. Second, who said anything about dollar for dollar or anything about displacement. Again, a fast car is a fast car. Seriously...not trying to start anything. I also agree that "ricers" are freakin' retards and always have some kind of excuse for losing. I also believe that the term "ricers" does not only apply to imports. I have seen many domestic owners make a lot of excuses when losing. I have had a few myself that have even mentioned money and how much I must have spent to make my car fast. Trust me, it wasn't that much. I will admit though that most excuses come from the import side of the racing culture.

I hear the, "but your truck has a turbo that isn't fair". When I tell them ya but it's only the stock one, they really trip out cuz about %80 of the people I race don't really know what a Sy is, it's fun watching people point and stare if I happen to break the tires loose. You can hear em "Why are all 4 tires spinning?" I agree with BlackTA, if it's fast it's fast.
