Default SRT-4 driver thinks he can destroy my cammed '99 TA and keep up w/ my '05 GSX-R 750

So I don't know much about SRT-4's other than the fact that I did ride in a slightly modded one and must admit it was pretty damn quick. Now, another guy I just met claims that his more modified (not sure what exactly) SRT-4 can beat my 400RWHP '99 TA from a roll (like 60-110 mph). I don't really say much b/c I don't know what these things are capable of. He then goes on to say that from a roll he would be within a car length of me if I were on my '05 Suzuki GSX-R 750 (a bike that runs LOW 10's in the quarter and tops out around 170-175). Does anyone know if these SRT's are capable of any of this BS he's spitting out (I know he hasn't spent more than like $8K on the car). I checked it out today and at 60 I'm still in 1st gear on my bike so I know that part of his story is trash. As for my car I haven't taken it to the track yet but w/ 400 RWHP he would have to be pushing around 350 WHP to give me a run (him being lighter and all). Any opinions?

Your car is probably in the mid 12's by now. I would say that he would kind of give you a run (depending on what he has). But the BS about keeping up with your 750 makes me think he doesn't know what he's talking about and is probably a slow ricer. I doubt he's making 350 rwhp, that's a little hard to do I would think.

400rwhp and only mid 12's? 400rwhp in an LS1 is good for high 11's. I'd race him and make him feel like the ricer he is

dood, just tell him that the bike doesn't come out unless he can keep up the pace with your car.
Whatever you decide to do, just make sure to stomp a mudhole in his ***!

I guess I should have stuck with the low 12's guess. Damn, I didn't know 400 rwhp was good for high 11's. I guess I'm to used to driving a truck, lol. 400 rwhp MIGHT get me a 12.9 at best, 4500 lbs sucks.

Sounds like an idiot. I doubt he'd keep up with your TA and he damned well won't keep up with the bike at ALL.

last year before we went to the track i rode in both an srt4 and obviously my camaro...the srt-4 "felt" quicker, and actually was a blast to drive(pry due to the stick versus my auto)......then we raced the morning of the woodward dream cruise from about 40 or fifty and i though he didn't go, he was a few cars back already by 90....but he did, i just stomped him....at the track i ran a 12.5, he ran a 13.2.....btw i really don't think my car is near 400hp, but with the stall i just put in i'll be close to 11s now.....

edit: i didn't read carefully the first time;if he's spent 8k wisely on performance mods for that car, he might give you a run for your money(in the car), especially from a roll

you will ****** rape him, just make sure ur in the proper gear, and makes sure nothing unfare goes down. if u spend time on the srt4 forums u read posts about the best way to beat <insert car here> they will try to find the best mph, etc etc, whatever can give them the advantage. im sure he will brake boost like crazy for the roll race but in ur case, he has no chance.

either way, u should destroy him if u really do have 400 rwhp.

I eat sleep and **** LS1, so don't take this the wrong way, but he might not be bullshitting. I have a friend here in Charlotte with an SRT-4 with a turbo swap, laying down 400 whp......ON A MUSTANG DYNO. Those things can make power. If he has $8k in the car, he will likely stomp you to be honest. It hurts me to think such, but just be careful. Unless you know for sure he's on the stock turbo, don't put any money on it.

You guys are quick to reply! The $8K figure was an upper estimate based on how much money this guy makes/how he spends his money. 400 whp out of a 4 banger is amazing. The only reason I'm not confident about my car vs. his is b/c he sounded so confident but then again that could easily be stupidity. He claims that he used to have a 600 sportbike so you would think this guy would know how fast they are. Maybe he had like an '86 "ninja" 600 or something. Anyways, I'll put my car up against him whenever I get a chance. I still think there's no way in hell he could take me on a roll on my bike. I'm still in 1st gear at 60!

If you can ride that bike at all, he's no threat there, but you should be careful when it comes to your TA. A Stage 3 or turbo swap car could easily have more than enough to take you out, especially from a roll.

Around here the Stage 3 cars are making 340-370 fwhp and the turbo swap cars are 415+ (one guy recently put down 465 fwhp ). They are all daily drivers and all weigh 2900 pounds or less.

He "shouldn't" be any threat from a dig (both cars on similar tires), but from a roll, even a fairly slow one, you could definitely get your *** handed to you. It doesn't sound like you've got a handle on driving your TA yet which may prove to be another advantage for him. Depending on whether he's bullshitting or not, you certainly could have your hands full with him.

Good Luck!

only one way to find out! fyi if he is heavily modded he should give your t/a a run for its money, also race him from a dig if is heavily modded, launching that skittle with good power is hard to do, but stock they are mid 14 second cars.

Well if he is in the ballpark of about 8k in mods and most are performance with a turbo upgrade or every bolt-on and a 100 shot then he will basically stomp you....in the car that is.

Turbo upgrades cost from 1800-3600. Add exhaust, intake, hard pipes, T.B, and some Juice...then he will be in the 125+mph range in the quarter.

***If he is really that confident and he isnt known for being a tool then expect him to have a nice turbo upgrade that he is running 123+mph and some N20 which will bump him up close to the 130mph traps...OR...he is a complete moron and doesnt have crap and still runs 14's,

be careful for the skittle. Even though they are 4 bangers and i love and worship the ls1, with some little mods they can push out some horses. My friend shawn has the stage 3 with toys and hes somewhere near 500 hp. He hasnt taken it to the track but he can leave a gsxr 600 sitting still and can put a couple lengths on a 750. You may smoke him-he may smoke you, either way race him and let us know how you did.

Only way to find out is to race him, 'cause there's one down here
trapping 120Mph+ and you would never know it by looking/listening to it.

If he has 8k in the car then he will give you a really really good run. Theres a few around here that claim to only have about 280-300 that run high 12s tire spinning. There is a yellow one in Charlotte that makes close to 500 hp with a pretty much just a swapped turbo. He handed a 03-04 cobra its *** last year here in fayetteville. The thing about the bike is bs tho. but you never know.

400rwhp is good for high 10's if u know what ur doing.. hell look at those bolton cars putting down 330ish running 10.90-11.30.. crazy ****, anyways i realize there stripped, but if u got tires, and supporting mods you should be able to crank a 11.2-11.4 outta that thing with time.. if hes still running the factory sized turbo u will kill him period.. he could very well just ahve the mopar upgrades, which are nice, but not going to kill no 400rwhp ls1 properly driven... the whole 60mph roll thing is gay.. as long as ur in the top of second you will be fine.... i say hes eitehr gotta have taht stage 3 upgrade kit and a 50 shot or a aftermarket turbo with al ot more boost, that requires some other supporting mods as well.. he might even spray on top of that, if he is watch out for him for sure, but he may very well blow up next to you so watch otu for that as well.... if i were you and i had a split cam like that id put a 75 to 100 shot on it and kill him by 20 cars..
