Lost a friend today
I was out at the local hang out last night, waiting for some action to go down.
A race between my friends Black LT1 Camaro and a 99 Cobra was lined up. It was past 2am and I was spent from being on the road for 2 weeks (working) So I decided I was gonna roll out and go to bed.
Got a call this afternoon:
My buddy put his Camaro into a wall (from the looks @ about 100) after skidding for about 150+ feet. I went out and looked at the site....It seems the car got loose in a turn.
From what was said by another friend, The race never went down (police broke it up) and he was heading home. He never aired his slicks back up, running on 8lbs. Well I guess that explains what happened in the turn.
No one knows or saying why he was in it so hard before the turn.
Before anyone goes off any tangent about street racing, we all know the risk that are taken when we race. (whether it is right or wrong remains to be a moral dilemma, that has no business here and now) .....so please refrain from any derogatory statements
"Franko" was a friend of mine he owned a Black LT1 Camaro

Sorry to hear about your friend, and his families loss.
I must say though, this shouldn't even be linked to street racing. Going around a turn at 100 isn't good with any kind of soft sidewall tire, or any tire for that matter, let alone with slicks with 8#'s.
Sorry to hear.

Am,
Sorry to hear about your loss man. I know the feeling, and it sucks. As one very large in the racing community in houston, i have been in the same boat My prayers are with his family and friends and yourself. Enjoy the good times guys, and be safe in your cars.

Gentlemen, Thank you for the kind words!
I was unable to sleep last night, so I went back out to the scene and to the the towing yard. I happened to run into the tow trucker operator that picked up the car. The car wasn't on slicks as previously thought, He simply lost control at a high rate of speed going into a turn. I should have photos of the car later today...

My condolences and prayers for his family. The one thing I understand is that speed might get me some day but if it does I went out my way. Id rather go out like that than in a wheel chair.

Sorry to hear this. Not to sound like I'm distasteful or disrespectful but I'd like to see those pics too because I've wrecked my Camaro twice and it took a hell of a beating. I got rear-ended by some chick going 45 when I was stopped and I t-boned a pick-up going about 55 and walked away with airbag burns and a bruised right nut from the steering wheel. IOW, Franko's wreck must have been bad. I'm sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you and his family.
