00 SS vs 99 Cobra My buddy is pretty cocky he just got a 99 Cobra and is always talking crap and I am currently looking into getting an SS and he is telling me he will destroy me and has raced SS before and has pulled on them Personally i think hes full of **** 
but I was just wanting to know what would win
only mods hes got is Exhaust so its not that big of a difference

I raced a 99 Cobra M5 Vert from a roll in my 1997 Z28 M6 a year ago. Its stock. From a 50 MPH roll I slowly started to pull on it. Shut down about 100. I had a fender on it. An LS1 SS should easily destroy one.

Get an 01-02 ls1 car and put a lid and maybe a catback or cutout and u will beat him like he stole something. 99 cobra is pretty much te same as the 97-98 cobra's except the 99-04 has that shitty independent rear suspension i believe.

My Brother has a 2001 Cobra...........
We have raced several times........he can stay close until I hit 3rd gear..........then its bye byeeeeee...........by 100 I got over 2 cars on him..........every time.
2001 Cobra stock was 320 horse
2000 SS stock was 320 horse
Our bolt ons are almost equal.
But you gotta run what you BRUNG>

i beat one out of a tollbooth before all my mods and with 3 other passengers and a ton of gear in the trunk. granted, it was from a roll and traction wasnt a problem and i got a little jump on him. i could also tell he was a crappy driver by his lazy shifts. but then again, i also suckes pretty bad back then...
what it comes down to is an ls1 is faster then the pre-04 cobras

I have a 99 Cobra.. And if he's stock without SVT fix it's only pushing 275hp.. With the fix will give him 310hp, If he port's the heads with the SVT fix will get him 333hp.. The 99 Cobra was SVT bigest f*ck up.. It has too many problems.. Unless he fixed everything I said, you should kill him..

When i had my GTP i ran with 99 cobras they didnt pull till like 70mph..... When my LS1 camaro (when it was stock) raced one i had atleast 8 cars on him by +/- a 1/4 mile......

Stock for stock the only cobras that have a prayer were made 03 or later. The only time the cobra is going to win is if it is more modded than the ls1. I've witnessed a blown cobra on tires loose to a bolt on SS. Granted the blower and tire were all the cobra had, its still rather shameful to take that loss.

I always see this one go back and forth you could go into a mustang chat board and you would hear it the other way around that the mustang would own the camaro and that all your facts are wrong if you think other wise. So I can never go by what I read. But personaly I think mustangs are over rated F-Body all the way.

I posted a cobra kill about two weeks ago. Yellow vert, 1999. From a 35 roll (the dead spot on stock auto) I put two carlengths on him by 100mph. Its not a fair race mod for mod.

im setting up a race with a local guy procharged saleen we raced not to long ago i only have a few bolt on my 99 z-28 it was close he did get me by a bit, but i only have a whisper lid and some flowmaster exhast 4:10 gears with a weak clutch. today i orderd the Nos 5177. hes in trouble!
