'02 bolt-on WS6 vs. '03 Cobra
My buddy picked up a '03 Cobra a couple weeks ago w/11k on it. Pretty nice ride, he's got an '88 notch as well with a 306. We finally got around to racing the other day, my mods are all bolt ons for the time being. I've got an F14 sitting beside me though.
We went from a slow roll in first gear, 15mph or so. He and I both spun, I took the lead into second, hit 3rd hard and then into 4th. I beat him by approx. 1 and a half car lengths.
I was pretty happy I pulled on him. I guess I've got the weight advantage. He's got more power, same tranny, and I think stock 3.55 gear?
He wasn't really upset, but instead of going out and getting the new A-1 fuel pump for the Notch, he bought a BBK cold air kit for the Cobra.
We installed it, sounds mean.... We raced the other night from a dig and I pulled him 1st, 2nd, 3rd, he pulled on me going into 4th, and had a half/car length on me when we let off.
I'm guessing that 3.55 gear is why. The first time we raced we didn't go all the way through 4th. This time we did, I was pissed that I lost. He spent $300 bucks on the cold air setup, and beat my full bolt on car.
Damn cobras.... At least I beat him once. I need gears, and I need to throw the cam in as well then I'll have win again.

Tell your buddy to ditch the BBK CAI..they're garbage...Get either a Straight shot 9 inch S&B with a heat shield or UPR,Densecharger or JLT CAI..he will gain 10-20 hp more over the BBK,i seen one car go from a bbk to a jlt and gain 18 rwhp with the same A/F ratio

Skip the Densecharger...many people have tuning issues with it. The BBK CAI is a hunk of **** just like previously mentioned. JLT is the way to go.
Anyway, nice runs. It's always fun having a buddy with a performance car too. There's friendly competition, but none of the hate.

Well I work at Mustangs Unlimited in CT. I looked at the Steeda kit, BBK one other and it seemed to be the best quality. Its got the upper and lower kit, I don't understand how the hell it could be such a piece of ****? He's going with KOOKs headers, and the rest of the exaust system is going to be Bassani.
