I've raced two vettes.... and both times it hasnt gone farther then 3rd gear. The 1st vette I raced was stock, some college kid in daddys car, he kept flying by me but finally we match up kinda with me at his rear tire and he just takes off so I go(this is from like 35mph, 2nd gear) and i end up at like his bumper when he breaks at like 60-70 max. Only if we would have started even...
2nd race was today...drive by a red convertible. He catches up to me (2 kids that look 15 in there daddys vette) and we're heading toward the bridge and he pulls up next to me and says,"You think you can beat me?" and im like "I dunno" and he says "Z06" and im like "thats a z06?" and he says "yea." So supposedly its a z06 even though it doesnt have the emblem on the side or the wheels...kids full of it, anyways our first go i hear him downshift so i punch it and he goes nowhere. So i slow down and wait for him again and I give him the what happened look and i point my finger signaling lets go, so the 2nd time i wait for him to go so i start at his front tire and we race up to like 70 maybe and he breaks. I ended on his rear tire but he stopped, pissed me off...i wanted to see if i was going to start and pull on him. But anyways he rides behind me for a ways then once traffic thins out he pulls up next to me and I say....that aint no Z06 and he says " I wasnt even going full throttle"...ha? I dunno if he was lying cause he was suprised i kept up with him or if he was telling the truth? What do you guys think an even start would turn out to look like?

First off they didn't make Convertible Z06's... Someone would have to customize the top to make it a convertible after they bought the car... Just so you know you were right he was most likely lieing about it.
Second why do you automatically assume it's dads car and they are just driving it? I am 19 years old and I have a Z06 and my dad hasn't help pay for one penny of it... Ive worked my butt off for it... Just thought I'd fill you in that maybe there is a chance they bought it them selfs?

If you can drive you can give the C5 stock or lightly modded autos a good run. They normally have 2.73s or the 3.15 perf axle ratios. Near stock C5 MN6s would be difficult since they have 3.42s too but weigh less than our cars. Stay away from the C6s or Z06s until you get some more mods.
FYI, I've taken a 2004 C5 w/2.73s, borla cats, and vararam from a roll.
Anything over 130 mph...and any one of them might chase you down.

Man, I wish I found quicker F-Bods around here when I was stock! Raced my buddy from a 20 roll when I was stock (/w k&n filter and daler-installed corsa quiet version) and I put about a car and a half on him to 120. He has a 98 Z28, lid gears full exhaust and some suspension stuff. Only F-Bodies that have killed me so far (I just need to find some quicker ones I think) are highly modded ones. :shrug:
