Default 00 ws6 vs 01+ (?) t\a

so i'm cruising back from Aggyville in manhattan, ks. and i see this blue trans am pull onto the road. YAY! I think, a REAL run. this will be better than the 350z's and sti's i've been murdering.

so i pound the accel and the dudes car squats and runs off.
WOOOHOOO!!!!!!
the excitement builds.
No ws6 badges, nothing but 2 pretty stock looking exhaust pipes. (single tubes letting out, insted of the stock double pipes..so i figured either a cat back or muff swap).
so we line from a roll, don't remember the mph...but it wasnt slow enough for the 4-2 kick (a4), it was 4-3 kick, and a very, very long pull up all of 3rd gear. litterally, ALL of 3rd gear. it sucked BAD.
But on a brighter side, he didnt "leave" me so to speak... a good paced walk.
If i could have had a 2nd kick, i might have stayed with him.
This guy had a manual, or one HELL of a shift kit. he was rowing gears like nuts (and running out of them way before me)
so out of all the runs we did (countless spurts to any speed), he was always in front.
Including the time where my body was right on his front tire (imho, that was the most fair for this race, as it gave my trans the chance to grab gear and go....even then he pulled on me.
good races, and a REALLY cool guy. but i think he had an 01+ model for the ls6 intake.
Will an M6 trans car really pull this hard on an a4 from a roll? even leaving the car in "gear" i was still getting smoked...
I think he had more than "just a catback" done...or i could be wrong.

opinions?

Depends on what kind of mods he had. Stock for stock a well driven M6 will pull the A4. At least you got to have some good fun with a respectable car. I won't even get into most of the BS "runs" I've had in this town.
