Default Why is it always the R1's??

Not a kill, just a quick run... On the way home yesterday, I'm poking along in 3rd at 35 on 529 headed North outta Everett when I spy two crotch rockets weaving up through traffic. About the time they move over behing me in the left lane, the right lane opens up for a ways. I slide over and boost it onto the bridge (which curves to the right, is narrow and old as well as a set of drawbridges) at a good clip to get by the cattle in the left lane, the bikes follow. I move back left in behind this cutie in a minivan who moves right just as the bikes catch up. Seeing nothing in my lane for a good ways now thsat we've crossed the bridges onto a straightaway, I drop it to 3rd @ 70, hold for a second and go. The blue bike doesn't bite but the red one does as I see his headilght come up and wee rapidly leave his buddy. I run through 3rd, shift to 4th clean and boost to about 120 while glancing at the bike in the mirror to see he's exactly matching my pull but not pulling. Later, after we work through traffic, I get on the Interstate with the bikes behind me and they come around. The blue one was a Katana, who just passes by, the red one was an R1 (ZX something in small letters??) who pulled up and gave an emphatic thumbs up, which I returned. They then blasted away through the traffic. Now, before ya call BS, I figure the guy never downshifted 'cause he expected to do the R1 shuffle on me like he probably does on every other car. It's nice to get props from someone on such a badassed machine after a little fun.

Sweet! I agree with your end statement, but it is always nice to surprise someone. I got a new toy yesterday if you wanna try to run that in addition to the rustang.

An R1 with ZX letters.....hmmmm

Kinda hard to imagine a 460hp heavy stang even coming close to hangin with a R1, especially with ZX letters on it too...

Hell, what do I know about R1's other than they're f*ing fast. It was next to me and I noticed the ZX whatever else in smaller letters under the R1 on the fairing. I don't know enough about 'em to tell ya what that meant. I figure, if he would've dropped to 2nd when I went to 3rd, he would've pulled me pretty hard. This is the second time I've tangled with one. The other was a roll from 80-165 and he pulled me by 5 or 6 with the hit. He downshifted to 3rd or so at 80 so I know he was pushing it hard. I would imagine that just twisting the grips in whatever gear you're in on one would be sufficient for most cars.

i belive him... 75% of rides can't ride their bike to the full potential... i ran a 2005 R6 and tied him cuz i had the jump from a 30MPH roll and he was missing shifts, cuz i herd it reving and clunking (like a miss shift sounds on a Quad or MX bike)

I watched a kid (freshman in college, 19 at the oldest) run a 9.9x @ 14x on a bone stock, brand new (0 miles) '05 GSXR 1K. That thing hauled, and the kid knows how to ride.

Nice job on hanging with a R1 on the highway...

I ride bikes. And I would like to know if your racing how the hell do you miss a shift? When I race I dont even use the clutch so if someone misses a shift is probaly a terrible rider.

For the guy with the new Gixxer nice bike. I heard there more powerful than the Busas is that true? If I liked the Suzukis thats what I would want.

Nice Kill man

I seriously doubt suzuki would make their gsxr1000 line faster than their gsxr1300 line. The hayabusa still reigns king. Nice bike by the way... How much did it run ya? If you don't mine me asking

I have two other bikes previously. Both GSXR 750s (one lowered and stretched w/ the usual bolt ons and one road race style with head/cams and other bolt ons). The '05 is retardly faster than both of those bikes and it's bone stock. I have had countless seat time on a buddy's '03 GSXR 1000 also. I haven't gotten the '05 broken in yet but it feels like it has a good bit more bottom end than my buddy's '03. I haven't wrapped it up to the 13,500 red line yet (It has less thn 100 miles on it), but it is supposed to make about 10-15 more rwhp and be slightly lighter than the '03.

How do you figure? The 'Busa is completely unchanged mechanically since '99. They put down low 150s to the wheel and weigh in just around 500 lbs. The '05 GSXR 1000 weighs in at 370 lbs and puts anywhere from mid 150s to low 160s to the wheel, depending on who you ask. You do the math.

The busa has alot of torque and a different frame that is supposed to increase its straight line ability while dumbing down its cornering. Its all a wash either way as 90% of REAL bike enthusiasts will pick the litre bike over the busa anyway. Bikes arnt about straight lines

What is it with bikes wanting to mess with muscle??? I don't ever see bikes going after imports, but always F-bods and Stangs. WTF?

A friend of mine has a 'busa and it's a pretty sweet bike. We went running once and I got ahead of him once (only once) and he started falling back. After the run, he told me that while he was behind me, at about 85mph a TON of turbulance came off of the car. I dunno, 'cause I don't have a bike and don't go checking air turbulance behind Trans Ams regularily.

Anyway, nice run.

Because they know imports are all bark (buzz?) and no bite?

Nice run, a 500 rwhp car will suprise a lot of bikes who expect to just run away from you.

And I saw a magazine article where one guy (pro racer) 1/4'd a bunch of bikes, and the 1000 beat the busa by a couple 1/10ths. Probably due to weight.
