Hrm, Dakota R/T?
Ok, so I've been driving the camaro around alot lately (I love summer) and every now and then I see this Dakota R/T (2wd 5.9) driving around. The other day, I'm just cruise'n with the t-tops off enjoying the sun with my g/f when I see this guy plowing through traffic. He obviously wants to race, but I'm not big on street racing. So basically I drive as usual, he trails me all the way up to the park.
I'm not sure what he wanted, or if he was just in a hurry, but I thought nothing of it.
When I left the park, I was cruising back down the strip when I see the dakota again. He gradually passes me, giving me a few looks. he goes to turn at the next light, but I went straight. This is when he pulled out of his lane and gets right on my ***! WTF. Just when I was about to give in, he turned around at KFC. damnit. I accually wanted to race this guy. Mabey it was the fact he was driving a dodge, or the fact he was try'n to hunt me down all night, but I never go the chance. Who knows, I might see him again this weekend.

the 5.9L dodge engines made somewhere around 275 - 280 HP if i remember correctly. i was considering getting one of them a while back before i came across my camaro. i know they were a little bit more powerful than the newer 4.7L engines, but not by much, and the 4.7's put out 260 HP, according to the dodge website.
but those 5.9 Dakota's can actually be made pretty damn fast, but probably 99% of them are not....just race him and let us know how it goes. hopefully the next time you post about him, it will be to let us know how badly you put him in his place

5.9L is not 250 or 275, its 245 crank HP. KILL HIM and get it on vid as your G/F squeals with glee.

I had the 4.7L club cab with a 5-Speed manual, fun truck to drive. With asp pulley, mild cams(sohc), shortie headers, catback, H.O. intake manifold, ported and polished 70mm throttle body...100 shot of nitrous my fastest time was a 13.45. Modded they can be fast but its really hard to over come the weight.

I slaughtered a guy in one with an exhaust and intake staurday night after he floored it past my buddy's house three times, finally caught him later on and he says he was just showing me what a real car could do, the look on his face when I scorched his *** was priceless.

yeah, they weigh a ton...or a couple tons...
my brother-in-laws ran a 13.5 with a supercharger+ boltons, but it was more of a show truck at that time, a pimped out quad cab that weighed at least 4,400 pounds(carpeted bed/hard top/ridiculous stereo).....that was a few years ago, he's building a twin turbo 408 right now, but has had nothing but problems with the shops he's worked with.....looks like the motor itself is finally in good hands now, so we'll see.....http://detroitwheeliedog.com/v-web/gallery/album02
a bunch of his friends that have r/ts are in the 12s with bolt ons and juice, a few in the 11s supercharged........i think they look and sound mean as heck, but they just weigh too freaking much....

They're really slow, it takes a ton of work and slicks to even break into the 12's. They won't even play with my truck. BTW crazy151, are you on Syty.net? Very rarely do I see another Syclone on here.
