02 WS6 vs. modded 87 GT

02 WS6 vs. modded 87 GT So this is the same guy that I raced last year with the 500RWHP 98 Cobra when I had my pewter car. He now has a 87 GT, it's a 306, X cam, Victor junior intake, some type of heads, nitrous (he said he didn't spray it though) Tremec TKO, 3.55s, other bolt-ons, Blah, Blah, Blah.
Anyway..........ever since he started running around in this car everyone was like "OMG it's badass, I think he'll get you." I really didn't care, my car's still stock...lid only......so I was like that's cool, I'll have mods sooner or later.
Well he called me up last nite wanting to get some racing going, so we meet up in town and call up some fellas and go out to the strip. We raced a 1/4, I was on my street tires, he was on some type drag tire, and skinny's on the front. They have just recently blacktopped this road in BFE and it hooks HARD.
Hands go up, I launch, and I'm immediately ahead a car outta the hole. The top of 1st is approaching and I'm pulling away FAST, so I decide to granny shift it
I go through the rest of them the same way and smoke his ***.....to much of a margin to determine.
Here comes the excuse.....oil pressure is low, there was shavings the last time he changed the oil, I have a 347 stoker about ready to go in...
Same guy, same story, ALL talk and NO walk. Oh well the LS1 represented again last nite, one of these days this guy will learn.....until then

It's all how you build them. My friend has the same setup with a 306 and nitrous on his older (79?) Stang and runs a 7.5-7.6 in the 1/8. And that's also his daily driver. Although we live in Nebraska and don't drive that far

my budy has an 87 5.0, it's a cream puff with only 40k miles, so far he ran a 13.8 with catted x pipe and intake. he's got some shorties, nice heads and an x cam going in this month. while i've got a cam going in this month. he's been pretty cocky so far but it i'm pretty excited to to see who comes out on top. CHEVY v.s FORD
