Default Got a win...Got played with...

Yesterday evening I was on my way to my friends house and i pull up to a light and to my right is some guy with a mullet with about a '78 vette. He has his t-tops off and so do I, both of our stereos are loud and we look over at each other at the same time, i crack a smile. He revvs at me so i give him one more glance. The light turns green and we both mash the gas. My rearend is spinning all over the place and i didnt even stall up. Anyways, i finally hook up after his nose is about half a car in front of mine. Well, it was all over for him from there. I pulled him in look he was standing still, by 50 i had almost 2 cars on him. We only go to 60 because we catch up to traffic. As he passes by he wont even look over at me. That was my first win in my 2000 SS A4 (catback, lid, 1LE). 1 other race: Heavely modded mach 1: lose. Spun all the way through 1st or else might have had a better chance. I hate losing to mustangs!

After i pick up my friend we are driving back down the same street and run into an E55 AMG. So i say what the hell. Theirs about a 60 year old man driving it. We rev back and forth testing each other then he points forward, so we both floor it. Surprise, surprise i spin all the way from our 30mph roll till 40, although it didnt matter because that car is a beast. I didnt have a chance! I got toyed with so bad i had to go home and look up how much power i was actually up against. Well, i find he had 467hp supercharged V8. I knew he was supercharged bc i could hear it but i didnt know that i didnt even have a chance. o well it was fun.
Anyways just thought i would share.

You sure spend a lot of time spinning out. The gas pedal isn't just an on/off switch, lol..or get some great tires

Default I know...

I'm working on fixing that. I know its not an "on / off" switch, thanks though. But you also cant tell me that you go half throttle in race either. But I will fix it asap.

Then he will be spinning the tires even more.

Learn to control the throttle by knowing when your tires are about to break lose to maximize your traction and acceleration.

Investing in better tires and such can help too.

Nice kill and deaths, what part of Texas are you from? I'll never see an E55.

I can understand on teh stock tires losing traction at 30. In a a4 30 is still first gear so when he mashes it it drops down and is in teh sweet spot. Kinda like me dropping the clutch in 1st gear at that speed. BFG DR's will fix that REAL good. Nice runs man

2000 Silverado-
I'm from Lubbock.

99SS-T is exactly right. I mash the gas and drop into 1st and its right in the power band.

I try to control the throttle, i mean im a pretty experienced driver but to get the A4 to drop 2 gears into 1st you have to pretty much floor it. I guess im just goin to have to slowly build the suspension and eventually get some good tires.
Thanks for the input.

You must have some crappy tires, lol.I have a lid ,catback, and a 3500 stall and never had to much problems hooking up unless it was from a real slow speed. But now I've been driving with some et streets.I'm never worried about traction now.Talk about peace of mind.I have nos on my car now too and tried it once stalled up and it spun for a few seconds but nothing out of control. The hard part is trying to go back to normal street tires.I'll probably buy the m/t radials next and see how they do

Mashing it at 30 isnt the sweet spot, its one of the worst speeds on the stock stall. Remember, its below 25 or above 50...

disagree. 27-31/32 was perfect when my car was bone stock, with cheap Sumitomo street tires. She'd spin the hell out of those *******...

Well, I put SLP Eibachs, Bilsteins, Spohn poly/poly Adj.LCA's, poly bushings for the rear sway, Boxed panhard with Durometer bushings, a Global West Trac Link torque arm, and my old '99 Trans Am pulled a 1.9 sixty on Allweather performance tires that were down to the wear bar.

This was a great street combo, Probably wasn't the best for the track, but handled really wel on the valley and river roads I have around here. For awhile I also had a 3500 SY and when I kicked down to first, the tires would spin abit, then the car would hook and go.

I'm sure there are better combos out there, but this one worked well for me.

I also have to disagree(from first hand experience). 40 is the worst speed. anything below about 32 or above 50 is perfect.

the tires i have right now are goodyear eagle F1's.
How long to Nitto's last with just a little bit of street racing, maybe a trip or 2 to the track and normal driving?

We had a AMG at our local track a couple weeks ago, the guy rips a 11.9x on his first run. Nice kill on the old Vette. Also, you gotta love those Mullet heads, takes guts to wear one, knowing you look ridiculous.
