Default California to Crack Down on Street Racing

Just heard on the news that california has spent 5 million dollars to crack down on street racing. They are going to train police officers to recognize illegal performance mods. They are going to start having inspection sites and tow your car if you have illegal parts. Looking into my glass ball, I can see a time in the near future when no one will be able to run Longtubes, offroad pipes, etc., without running the risk of having your car towed and sold at a police auction. It will be all about JBA shorties and stock cams. Gotta love CA......thats are tax dollars at work. Sometimes I wish I lived in the 60's. Time to sell the T/A for a street bike?

Even if they impounded your car and sold it at an auction. I've got to admit, that would do it for me.

where did you hear about this?

I seriously doubt that they will be able to put a lid on street racing and aftermarket mods. according to CA law, if you modify your intake or exhaust in ANY way, your car is not street legal....this even includes putting a K+N filter in your car.

even having aftermarket headlights is supposedly illegal. what a bunch of crap.

I saw it on the evening news tonight. There are also other plans to not only cut down on racing, but to keep you from modding your car. Arnold is not our friend either.

Street racing in my area (Ontario, CA) could have been destroyed by the cops if they felt the need to. THeir are 3 areas (Near Ontario Mills) that are the "Spot" every week. I mean come on, its obvious where they are going and when. They had a raid about 3 weeks ago and maybe bagged about 60 ricers on tow trucks. I didnt see it, but the T/A and Camaro crews were laughing it off. Just recently, in a stunt bike illegal show thing, a biker slammed into the side of a big rig, place was pretty raided by cops and this will only get more serious...

Trust me, if they ever try to take my car away from me and sell it at auction, with the only reason being the mods. I would go out in a blaze of gun fire . .

Man Im glad I moved to the Midwest. San Diego was great to grow up in the 80s and early to mid 90s but now its just not worth it. Not to mention the price of owning a home.

Most of the b.s. here in Cali is the ricers. Most of the real racers are smart enough to go to the track. Weather is usually nice year round to pay 15 bucks a week for open race night, can't really beat that. I think Arnold is doing a good job here, slowly weeding out all the retards from the streets. I am stuck here with the military, and the ONLY reason I'm in Cali. I'm waiting for that big earthquake to come knock it off the rest of the U.S. I'll be the first one swimming across to the new beach

Well this is just ****** stupid and I hate cops so much that whenever they try to pull me over in my SS I always run.....and always get away too. For the cops that are on this site from cali....**** YOU GUYS! I see most cops as lil bitches and I think back in high school they used to be geeks that got picked on by the other kids...so they become a cop and think there above the law. I don't know if you see it the way I do, but the cops that I've seen abuse there power and talk a lot of **** and harras the guys my age.
