Stock LS1 vs. Roush
My g/f and I were on our way to meet up with a couple of friends last night when a mustang pulled up behind us at a light. Once it turned green, we pulled out slowly and the mustang pulled up next to us. We paced each other like this for about 1/2 a mile. I noticed the Roush badging on the car along with the Roush wheels. It was a pretty nice looking car, convertible also. So we get to a red light and I was just waiting for him to jump once the green light came on. He pulls out slowly, then floors it a split second later so being that I was expecting him, I slam the gas too (about 10 mph or so). He pulled about 1/2 a car in his first gear, but as soon as the rpms climbed, I stopped his pull and started pulling on him. He shifts to 2nd, and the trusty 4L60E does it's thing. We were approaching traffic, so the race ends with him shifting into 3rd putting us at about 70 mph or so with us about 3/4 of a car ahead.
It was a pretty close race. I gave the guys a thumbs up, but don't know if they saw me or not since they had their windows closed. This happened while I was in my g/f's bone stock '02 SS. The Roush was a '99-'04 body style (the nice looking ones). If I'm not mistaken, I believe I noticed a faint blower whine while he was at WOT and also during idle. I'm not sure if the guy had any mods or not, his exhaust was kind of quiet so I doubt he had any exhaust work. Don't have any specs on these cars, so would someone be willing to enlighten me?

As someone mentioned earlier, probably a Stage 1 or 2 Roush, which is basically a GT with body effects and some upgraded suspension and interior parts. The Stage 3 Roush has a supercharged 4.6 2V putting out about 380hp, and is a good match up for a stock 03/04 Cobra. I also think most Roush Stage 3's have either Bassani or Magnaflow side exhaust, so it would be hard to mistake that sound.

Yeah, I have no idea about the stages of these cars I just know it had Roush badging. It could have been a CAI that I heard. I also doubted he was blown by the outcome of the race. His exhaust exited the back like a regular GT. It was a close race and one of only a handful in my g/f's car. Thanks for the info on these cars.

Appearance upgrades, including an air dam, side skirts and dramatic rear wing, immediately identify this Mustang as a breed apart.

I just read an article out of hot rod magazine. They said the roush stage 3 is $40,000-$49,000 depending on trim and puts out 360 hp and 375 ft. lb. torque. I'm assuming flywheel #'s. They are supposed to run 12.7 @ 109. They aren't as fast as the 03/04 cobras and I assume a bolt on LS1 would give one a good run.
