Default Saleen S281???

I saw one of the new Saleen S281 Mustang's on the north side of Houston yesterday and was wondering if anyone has run one yet. He was going the opposite direction, so I didn't get a chance to run him, but was hoping that someone on here has... It looked pretty clean.

ya...I have run one a few times. Nothing special speed wise...maybe a little bit faster than a mustang GT. But they do look much nicer!

Was it an S281 or an S218 sc? The supercharged ones are quite mean from what I hear.

He's talking about the 05's though. They are quick but not really comparable to a modded ls1. It is basically a 05 gt with a cold air intake, some wheels and a body kit.

I have raced one and it wasnt pretty. He looked like a honda accord from about 12 cars back.

I don't know if they've started producing them yet, but be on the lookout for the Saleen S281 E (Extreme) 500hp 482tq 3550lbs! That ain't gonna look like no Civic in the rearview! Going to cost some major cash too!

No doubt they are going to be a fast car. But they aren't being produced yet and are going to be a limited production. Even if they are 500 flywheel hp, they are going to be about 420 to the rear wheels. I would still make mince meat out of em

.
I saw an S-281 at a car show the other day. It wasn't the S/C'd version, and until this thread I actually thought it was a fake.

Nice looking car though.

I was wondering the same thing. My cousins step dad just bought an 05 S281 red convertible. Everyone at work says it will take my car (its still stock). They say it will walk all over my car all day every day, but I don't think so. I looked up the specs on them and the hard top ran 325hp and a 5.0 second 0-60 time. Last I checked that was the same as my car stock, and I thought convertibles were a little heavier than hard tops/t tops? Racing him is out of the question because he will never do it.

Also, supposedly this car is 1 of 4 ever made, which is hard to believe. They had to have made more Saleen convertibles than that but I dont know anything about mustangs. Anyone know for sure?

I read in the MM&FF they tested a S/C saleen and its best et was like 12.5 at 112. An admirable time but not for the kinda cash they want. In my opinion the 05 S281 is ****

Yeah, my cousin wasnt too happy when they asked me if I had seen it. I walked into work one day and it was sitting out there and I just kinda chuckled at it, not knowing it was theirs because they just bought it. When I found out whose it was I just shook my head. Little over priced and under powered from what I have read about them.

They are definately nice looking up-close, but I just looked at the specs on-line and for that price... I'll stick with my Camaro.

The S/C Saleen is only pushing a WHOOPING 3.5psi and is making 400hp. Now get it up to 10psi or more....watch out!!

I kicked *** on a Mod'd 98' Saleen last night! His car was loud - BBK exhaust-no cats (sounded nice), had underdrive pulley(s), gears-I think, and a few other things. We ran from a 10 mph roll and at first I went "oh s&#@!" My car rev'd up and I pulled him in. I scratched third with my rear wheels at his window. Very cool guy, we exchanged compliments, discussed mod's on each others cars and went on down the road.
I had to ask if it was real. He said yes. I am going to start a new thread with this and other recent runs.

Don't the '98s make 200rwhp or something pathetic like that?

That's just funny. LMAO. Unit - your car by far is a beast. I know my car would only be a feast. If only I had the cash to make my car go as fast, then I might be able to compete. But for now I must only look down at my feet. My head hung low, I know next to yours my car is slow.

My intent with this is only for fun. What was the time of your last run? My last track experience I left in complete frustration as traction for me was no where in the nation. I need some stickies, this is true. For a guy named Romeo in a Grey Mustang GT kicked my butt blue. His car was fast. For finally now, I cannot say I have not been beat my a Ford production car, at last.

Seriously, Unit - I have always wondered how something poetic would go over on this site. Only intended for fun & with respect. How is your car running? Mine is getting up there on miles 73K. It upsets me that my 93 Z has been laid up for almost a year, but that's life.
