Default STS F-body-Quick or not??? H/C car take it?

Someone in town just installed one of those Base STS kits (no meth. kit, and like 5.5 or 6 psi) and I was wondering what this car could do for HP #'s and track times? My mods and #'s are in my sig, think I will walk this car?

HIM - 2000 TA w/ A4 (Bone Stock w/ STS kit)

ME - 99 Z28 M6 (H/C/I and most bolt ons)

My best time at the track is a 12.2 @ 115 w/ a awful 60' (stock 10bolt)

well going by your times and mph...it should be a good race. but if you made 433 on a mustang dyno should be doing waaaaayyyy better than 115, unless the da was pretty bad. you should be getting 120 very easy out of that setup.

He'll out mph you if you're only trapping 115.

Went to some site that corrects times for temp and sea level. Someone put it on here and it was corrected to 11.6 at 121 mph. Humidity that day was 95% or so and it was 92 degrees. Everyone was running real slow that day, about .3 to .4 slower then there average. Also, it was my 1st time ever at a track. I could run 3rd and trap 113-115 in the rev limiter, or it 4th and trap a mph or so slower. I know there is 11.9 or better in the car, I just can't see pushing that stock 10 bolt w/ 3.42 gear.

Aug 27th is the next time I will be going to the track. I'm going see just how tough the 10 bolt is, actually probaly going to destroy it, Either way, the temps will be in my favor i'm sure and hopefully they prep the track. They call the track "slippery rock" (actually is Rock falls Dragway) so maybe I will get away w/ no carnage again. But like I said I was launching from 2 to 2500 Rpm and on my last run I launched from 3500 and it just started feeling good, but still bogged bad. I need gears so badly!! Either way, I have no excuses if I don't at least break 11's this time out, if not, i'm going for a retune and getting my #'s rechecked, like what was mentioned, for the #'s I have, the times and Mph are off!

Depends on how well it is tuned. I saw one at the dyno that pulled (STS base 6 spd all else stock) 350 or so before tuning, then 400 with tuning. So if he isn't tuned, well, he could be "not-so-good"...

I'm about 80% sure it is untuned, but he doesn't realize that it needs to be. Guy is a tool. He punched it from like 15 mph when I was next to him and my car with nitto's will go up in smoke, when he did it, it just was loud and never chirped a tire and barley moved. Almost positive his tranny is toast but like I mentioned, he is a tool and thinks all is well. He told me he should be around 500 ft. lbs of torque, YEA RIGHT, then again, I know little about these STS kits and little about his car but I figured this car would leave some serious rubber w/ stock tires, but he just slowly pulled away and nothing really happened, just loud. I was in my 1998 stock 2500 Dodge V-10 when I seen hi pull from 15 to 40, and felt I could of hung w/ him.

Why in the world to people race untuned. I just don't get it. Tha A/F is fucked after you slap on a turbo kit.

You better be careful. Turbo cars seem to sound stock at idle being as the turbo really quiets things down. Hope he doesn't have a cam in there. Trust me...I should know . I went 11.90's on motor, cam only. Slapped the STS kit on and on the dyno with a slipping 3rd gear I pulled 454 on 7psi (101hp more than N/A). My car doesn't leave nearly as hard as it did all motor, but soon makes up for it. The 3rd gear problem has not permitted me to make a full pass, but JFYI I went 12.20@98mph!!!! Wanna put him away? 9" rear, M/T drag radials, and a 6000 dump. You better shift your butt off too!

If you consistently run low 12's I would probably put money on you. If he is running without a good tune and using street tires, you will probably walk all over him. He'll probably cut a 2.0 if he's lucky w/ street tires and the stock verter. The torque managment will kick his *** in the A4 w/ that turbo, I bet he won't even hit a 12.5.

If he had a good tune and some tires, then I dunno it would be close. Turbo A4 cars kick ***.

they "highly recommend" tuning it b/c the compression is so high....i doubt anyone who would install that would let somebody get away without tuning it...your ETs would be a lot better if you had some 4.10s too you would get into 4th gear and have some time to pull

Believe it or not, I called Driveline Solutions and ordered my 9in. already and I will recieve it sometime soon, but I have to assemble it. I already have the 275/60/15 Mt drags and I'm getting skinnies for the front. But from what I seen, this car has no chance. I'm by no means knocking the STS kit itself, there is just something up w/ his car. Some may think he has a sleeper cam and hidden mods or whatever. But I know for a fact, this thing is stock as can be, other then the STS of course. I think for him to have a chance he would need:
TUNE!
Tires
Converter (Maybe a entire rebuilt tansmission, I swear it's slipping!)

Then i would worry, but until then, i can't wait to find him! I'm trying to see if he wants to run at the local 1/4 track the 27th, If we run, I will let u know how badly he goes down and post up his slips, if he don't mind.

Let's speak from first hand experience, w/ my car and a relatively good tune, I'm putting down the numbers I have here. If he's running 5#'s stock, absolutely, you've got him beat. I don't think there's a shadow of a chance for him. 433 / 389. He might see how well he fairs on the highway because I think I can safely say without being arrogant. Don't mess w/ an STS on the highway. It's just like running a Supra. As soon as the turbo spools up the car's rediculous. I do 13.83 @ 111 and my friend does a 12.5@ ??? and on the street I can pull on him. I hate cannibalism but all's fair in racing and war.

Keep in mind....you can get an electronic boost controller with the kit (and every other). For instance, I have a 1psi spring in my wastegate, and at the flip of a switch I am running 7 psi. My car is **** slow on 1 pound, and the turbo is screaming!!! It's called sandbagging, and it wins races and money. He may not be doing this, just food for thought!

recamaro: Well thats good to know and pretty much what I figured. Believe me, If at all possible I will try to get some roll races in if he wants, but I like going from a dig myself.

EDIT: My last post... maybe I didn't pull on him but for once he didn't leave me in the dust. I may have been half a car ahead and then we held it up until about 120 maybe.

Don't get me wrong, Chris, I won't take anything away from your car or your ability to drive it. And of course we're gonna run again. If I didn't run you, brandon, or nick I wouldn't have any competition hahaha.

See ya on the street.

I disagree. Why would you want another shift?
