00 Z28 vs Supercharged 350Z
My mods are in sig...
Got on the interstate leaving work today, and I see a Color-changing 350Z with body mods on it coming up behind me fast. I thought nothing of it until he passed me on the left, then slowed down to let me catch up. I figured "What the hell? I haven't had any street treats for a while..."
It was only then that I noticed the whine... We tried to go on the part of the interstate that we were on, but only managed to pull 60-90 before we had to shut down. Neither one of us pulled on the other.
We turned heading Southbound on another interstate, and finally got some open road. I had to chase him for a while, he was in front. We toyed around, and he couldn't shake me, but I also couldn't pull on him. Speeds ranged between 110-130.
Finally, we got about a half mile of straightaway in front of us, and we took off, him still in front by about 3 cars. We were dead even until around 140, when I started pulling him in slowly, and I was about to pull around him and pass, when I had to shut down at 150 due to traffic.
This car definetly surprised me. It's been a while since I've run a car so close to my own in ability. We slowed down and exchanged info. Turns out he has a full bolt on car with a Stillen supercharger, and put down 350 rwhp on the dyno. No wonder it could hold its own. Guy was surprised that I could keep up as well as I did, and he REALLY liked my car. He did say that it was a little bit loud for him though.
We exchanged pleasantries, then I turned off and went home. It's nice knowing that there are cool guys out there like that. I got a helluva adrenaline rush from going that fast racing someone. My previous fastest race ended at about 130.
I know someone is going to be all prudish and warn me about racing going that fast. Spare me the crap, it's my car and life, I choose what to do with it, and I judge what's safe and what's not.
Time for a cam now though...

Plus, I figured the gears helped me out a lot. I was turning over 5k when I looked down at 140.

most of the fi kits for the 350z are superchargers...there is only one twin turbo kit for it...by greddy i believe.

Stillen makes a nice supercharger kit for it. I think it's what the guy had, along with some bolt-ons.
I only know this 'cause a former co-worker of mine is really into Nissans.
Also, I did let out when we came up on traffic at 150. I may like winning, but I'm not gonna risk my life any more than I have to.
I've actually mellowed out a lot since this race. I haven't caught a street race in quite a while.
