Default 05 GT - Intake, Headers and Exhaust

Driving back from lunch I noticed a nice black 05 Mustang GT coming up behind me. I slowed down to let him know I was game. He started to pace me in the left lane and we slowed to a crawl to let traffic clear in front of us. I was showing about 4K in first. I waited for him to take the kick. When he took it, mashed the throttle and popped out ahead one car in first, then a couple more by the top of second. I shut down before shifting into third, it was over by then.

He wanted to go again, so I obliged. Similar results this time.
He said he had an intake, headers and exhaust. He heard my turbo and asked about it. Cool guy, all he needs is a little shot and that thing will fly.

New stangs aren't that fast... Full exhaust and intake GT, would be an even match for f-body with just an exhaust on.

Here are some timeslip posts from Dragtimes.com on the 2005 GT.
Don't underestimate them, they can go in the 12's with a few mods.

Most of the guys you posted run DRs or something similar. I trap at 107mph with LM and a lid, so from a roll I'd be dead even with them...

I noticed that they do cut some pretty decent short times. A roll should be no problem.

Yup, it come from DRs or ETs, it's even in their profiles. And as you can see they trap at 106 with a bunch of mods and I trapped at 107 with lid and LM in a 95* day.

That's definitely how the new GT's are: hard launchers/great down low, but lack the top end of our cars. It's evident in their timeslips compared to ours: they're a tick or two behind us time-wise, but a few MPH or more slower.
