Chevy Beretta?

Chevy Beretta? I have a friend that live in my apt. complex with a 6cyl chevy Beretta, he claims to have "sidewinder cams," chip, electric fan, some other minor support mods. He is claiming it dynoed at 280hp/210tq. He revved it up for me and even through stock exhaust I could still kinda hear a LITTLE different tone from under the hood, not sure how they sound stock though, but it sounded a helluva lot meaner than i think a Beretta should (no real lope though). He doesnt seem like the type to BS a lot, but he could be misinformed. Does this sound even possible? He is not FI and not N20. I dont know what to think, are those cars really mod succeptable or something? Should I worry (not from a dig obviously, even if his claim is true.,...but still, 280rwhp, what do those weight...not much i would think

Run him and find out.
I had a good friend with an almost exact set-up to yours that ran 12.0-12.teens @ 110-112. His car a notch, so obviously a little lighter, but your car should be capable of solid 12's if you can drive it.
No way his car is gonna run anywhere near that even if he did dyno 280. I would say if he's 100% legit with mods/HP he might run mid-high 13's.

He claimed "I think im in the 11's" (has to be totally bogus)and another claim "i can hang close to him but he gets me on the 1-2-3- shifts but i kill him up top" (referring ot the resident civic, who's mods i know NOTHING about, but have heard from one girl that its "fast"..but consider the source,however she claims to have owned some fast cars and has an Audi right now (not sure on model)) Also "I hold my own against A5 2005 GT's and the 5-speeds get me". I really dont know what to think about that...that civic better have some MODS!! I am looking for boost guages today on that thing...

)I think it was 150hp standard, than the 3.1 replaced it with 165hp but later on, the first replacement was the dohc 180hp. Still, not going to happen. I don't see a cam only and the little bolt ons gaining over 100hp. It explains those gtu, z26, etc models. Like I said, they were a dohc 4 banger with 180hp for the gtu during that time frame, only the later model got the v6 but still less power.

He has a V6 in it. When he told me about trouble with the civic i was IMMEDIATELY wary...I asked around on the import forums and they all agree, NO WAY (i know its not an import, but its a V6...thats their domain,lol). Anywho, I suppose a good run is in order 
Should I completely roast him OR....(I hate the guy with the civic, he is an *** that is messing w/my friends gf. Sooo....I can "lose" BARELY...to this high powered Beretta on the "top end" and then set it up with the civic for a good sum of $$ since i KNOW the beretta takes the civic up top That seems the proper way to do it...talk poo about the civic to the civic owner, BARELY lose to the beretta, let those 2 talk, then offer a $50 race (hey...im poor, okay?) then rape the crap out of him and when he says WTF!?!? I say...changed spark plug wires, was running on only 4 last time.... Then I can take MY gf out to a good supper

280 FWHP ! He's totally full of **** without a potent power adder. The absolute fastest Beretta I've ever seen at the track ran low 14's and people looked at that thing like it was the second coming of Christ in the form of a Beretta. Don't sweat him.

Those little weedeater motors are maxed out from the factory.
I don't see another 100HP coming out of that car without some
kind of forced induction. I'd guess he is putting down 150
or so at the wheels, if that.

i had a 3.1 cavalier which is alittle lighter.had a chip from ed wright 2.5 exhaust from the manifolds back and a cai best ever was a 15.30ish been awhile now.smoke that fool.280fwhp on what crack.
