Default 05 GTO kills an 05 GT

I had the opportunity to race a new Mustang GT tonight on my way home. I was coming off the freeway and was turning right at the light when lo' and behold...a silver Mustang GT goes right through the intersection ahead of me. I decided to catch up and it was my luck that the next light turned red so I pulled up along side and looked over. A guy in his early 60's was driving and I wasn't sure if he was going to race or not. No engine reving or anything to bait him and no indication from him he was interested. Well...the light turns green and he nails it for all it's worth...tires squeeling and giving it full pedal! I punched it hard and he had about a half car length on me. My son who is 15 and his friend were with me and they were all excited. By my shift to second I was even and by third it was decidedly over that I had won. I pulled hard away! The boys liked the second gear tire burns by both cars and they talked about it all through dinner...lol! The guy after the race was pretty cool and he rolled his window down and asked me if I had a 350 in the GTO. He said he had test drove one and decided on the looks of the GT over the GTO. I told him that the mustangs have no rear space and he said he really liked my car. I told him thanks and was gracious but I don't like the mustangs...GT or other wise so I kept it to my self and drove on when the light turned green.

Peace y'all!

Nice kill! Hope you don't get flamed. I guess the "looks" of the GT over the GTO was more important than performance to the other guy.

"looks were more important" well, the new GT is no import fodder, and you dont race ALL the time when you are eligable for the discount at luby's...so yeah, he got what he liked...

Those are godd H.P. #s what all have you done with it. I have LPE CAI no tune yet but I dont have dyno #s yet. Good kill by the way. The only one I ran was a late 90's GT conv. so that wasnt worth posting.

My 05 GTO has a K&N cai , JB shorties, mild cam , Magnaflow resonators and a good tune by Nick @ Newtech Performance. The cam is ground for an ATI charger I am putting on later. (224/227 - 114 - .560 ) This week I am having a FAST 90 intake put on and hope to break the 400 rwhp barrier.

I know there's more involved in choosing a car besides performance. I was just joking...
