Talking mistaken identity(long)

i was at sonic with my friend today and were here just getting some drinks, 2 99-04 Gts pull in and park, me and my friend are just chatting when this 03 mystic cobra i've been wanting to race passes by, so we take off after him, i pull out and gave it some gas and was not able to find him. so we go back to pick my friends car up. i pull in and they guys in the Gt's ask me to race, i asked what they had in there car and he said "race me and find out"

first run was from a 5mph roll, i do the 3 honks and on the while i was doing that his passger told me i got nothing and gives me the suck it sign. 3 honk comes and we take off and going sideways while am passing him and shut down with me 2 cars ahead.

second run from a stop, i give him about a 1/2 car jump and same results passes him going sideways and let off with 2 cars.
he does a fly-by and almost rear ends a car.

we pull back into sonic and he askes what i got in my v-6, i told him a v-8,
he asked if i droped it in and i told him no it was a formula, he then asked if i changed the bumper and spoiler on my trans am, i said no its a formula. he then askes if its a lt1, i told him no ls1
he then said that he had a 99 z28 and his friend has a 99 ss with full exhaust.
he said i should race him, i asked him who drives that car and told me the guys name and it turns out i raced him at the track and beat him by 2 cars.

The driver of the mustang then told me my car was slow off the line, i then told him i gave him the jump to be fair, they are still in high school so its probly there first fast car, these guys were real cocky, after the race they were cool, they just thought i was just a v-6 and were going to beat the crap out of me.

good runs and great dyno #'s for a stalled auto pick up a set of 3.73s trust me its the best bang for the buck mod, other than nitrous. and on a side note u would have thought he could tell it was an ls1 from the exhaust note

Thanks. Thats what i was thinking cause i gave it a good amount of throttle when i went after the cobra.
am thinking about 3.73 later on cause i drive 40 miles on the highway a day and gas isn't that cheap right now. its 3.25 for 91 octan.

i have a 150 wet shot in my car i just havn't had any time to wire up the window switch cause of school and work.

trust me man i fell ya there. i went from max 24, maybe 25 mpg to around 22 to 23 with the 3.73s. good investment for the money if u have it. im not exactly sure how elevation would effect MPG so i couldnt help ya there. being at max 300ft elevation i guess im spoiled BUT finish wiring that 150 shot have it tuned and well, 12s at ur elevation should easily be attained.

the car on street tires feels like a mid 13 sec car so am hopeing a mid 12 on street tires and a low 12 high 11 on some stickies, theres a lt1 with bolt-ons and and a 150 shot that ran a 12.6 with slicks. so that gives me an example whee my car should be at on the juice.
there also a heads cam formula that goes 12.6 all motor and 11.3 with a 150 dry shot.
as for gas am seeing around 22-24 on the high way and 18-19 in town.

those high school kids are pretty green yet if they cant tell the difference between a v8 and a v6 listening to the exhaust its so obvious! i dont know how anyone could mistake the sound of a v8 compared to the sound of a v6

I love people that think they know firebirds better than the owners. When my dad had the WS6 a lady with a WS6 told him, while looking at the car, that it's not real because only T/A's have the WS6 package. She said he only put all the WS6 and Ram Air badging on. She then told my dad that hers' had 650hp...stock! --> dumb lady in car she doesn't deserve
