Default C6 Z06 vs. Ford GT?

I was looking at the factory ratings and quarter mile times of the C6 Z06 and the Ford GT and they look pretty close in comparison...the Z06 looks like it has a faster 0-60 time and the quarter mile times (estimated) are almost dead even. What do all you guys think about the C6 Z06 vs the Ford GT? THe Ford GT costs twice as much and the C6 Z06 performs just as well as far as the magazines and reports have it...just wanted to hear from someone else on the subject who might have first hand experience on these two cars...thanks

I have seen both run at the track. I've raced (and killed ) 3 GT's on the highway.
They are dead even IMO stock for stock in a straight line. I can't comment on
cornering, braking, etc since I have no experience with either vehicle.

I tend to lean towards the Z06 to be the better performer.

nothing 1st hand, but there is a video of the "termin8r" from racingsouthwest.com of him racing a ford GT and he got'em pretty good. His car is an 01-02 SS w/ magic stick cam, LT headers, 200 shot. His other video, he races a C6 Zo6 and beats it also, but not by that great of a margin. So I would say the C6 Zo6 will win by a small margin. For the price difference, I would def. take the Zo6 and build the **** outta it over that stinky ford any day. Also, w/ the amazing dealer mark up on the ford GT, the Zo6 is almost 1/3 the price. Saw one stickered at 189,500(ford GT) .vs. 69,500-73,000(C6Zo6).........

I would be suprised if anybody here has first hand experience with either car yet, let alone both. Both are incredibly hard to get your hands on.

IIRC, Both cars are around 3100lbs (is the GT heavier?) and the GT is rated to have an extra 50hp or so. However with that much power under Your right foot, I'm guessing it's a total driver's race since most people who can afford a GT probably don't know how to really drive it.

I don't know if there is anyone out there (or a member here, for that matter) who has driven both yet. Both are badass cars, I'm thinking the GT might edge the Z06 out in the 1/4 mile though, I've heard of the GT's running 10.9's stock on stock tires - don't know what the truth is behind that though. On a road course, who knows, the Z06 is a few hundred pounds lighter...

Let's talk performance, not cost. Let's leave that to the Honda boys.

I highly doubt that. I saw Donnie Walsh run his GT and he clicked off
a 11.6 @ 126mph. You won't find many more experienced drivers out there.

MM&FF got 10.9s on stock tires, but they had a smaller blower pully on the car.

ok. I see your point, but to someone who cares about the price and performance, the Zo6 pricetag would be a factor for some, since the perf. numbers are close.

I agree 100% with you. Leaving $$$ out of the conversation gets us to the
point...performance.

Maybe that was it, like I said it's all just hearsay until someone can back it up. If Walsh only got a 126mph trap out of it, that's about on par with the new Z06 I think.

Man this thread blew up fast, I thought I was going to be the 1st reply but two other posts got in while I was typing.

So I'm guessing that they're probably being driven by Ford peeps for testing purposes. I wonder if they ever go back to hq and say "Yeah boss, we got beat by a cobra. not sure why."

Some were, some were owned by individuals.

According to magazines the slight edge goes to the ZO6 in the quarter mile and slight edge in over all performance ratings. The Ford GT is alot more comfortable and has a better interior, exterior and will be more of a rare exotic.
