Default 05 saleen DESTROYED!

wasn't even a race.

the first run we went from a stop- i didn't do a burnout or anything and we went on 3. i just rolled into the throttle and then went wot to avoid any wheel spin (my guess is about a high 1.8 60ft on my part..). by 60mph i had him by maybe 3 carlengths then continued pulling on him- probably got him by 10+ carlengths. i was just laughing thinking maybe he missed a shift or something.

we turn around and line up again, he requests from a roll because he said he knows i'll kill him from a stop. we go from about 20mph on 3 honks. i gave him the jump and then nailed it. we stayed even through his 1st gear then he shifts to 2nd and drops back a little- then i started pulling like a fuggin freight train on his ***. ended that race at 110mph with me ahead by 1-2 buslengths . i dunno, i thought those things were faster. it was a nice car and all just seemed to perform like a gt mustang- but it had the blower and everything...i have raced stock 03-04 cobras and they are RIGHT on my *** from a slow roll, pullied they get me up top (not from a dig however).

what are the 05 saleens susposed to run? my guess is high 13's at like 100mph..?

good kill

The non supercharged ones run mid 13's and the supercharged ones run low 13's/high 12's. The extreme should hit 11's though.

The NA Saleen is a joke. A $44K joke that was tested to NOT pass Cali emissions and ran SLOWER than the GT. THe magazene testing it also said the quality was sup-standard. This was before the car was released to the public btw. Hope they fixed SOME of it...All i know is for 44K im in a modded 03/04 cobra.

Sounds like it's a $20k body kit on an already overpriced mustang GT.

the thing is however i asked the guy if it was supercharged- he smiled and said "yes". i commented how he may get me top-end (or so i thought) then i proceded to ennihilate him. now i THOUGHT i heard a blow-off-valve when he revved at me when the race was initiated- he got my attention by revving at me.

like i said i am almost sure it was supercharged, the owner said it was supercharged, but then it performed like n/a so i dunno. maybe he his 2nd gear and blew his tires off- and the first run he did the same. or hell maybe he was an idiot and it was a n/a saleen .

i think some stock ls1's should go after these things...

05+ GT engines do have variable valve timing.

the VVT is not the same as VTEC. VTEC actually involves an extra lobe on the cam if i am not mistaken.

Yeah I seen on of those at the mall it was on display and had a price tag of $44K. It said it had 340hp and 320tq, or it was the other way around.

Mustangs are a joke. The 2005 GTs still can't beat the 1998 LS1, and they probably run pretty even with the 1993 LT1. Unless I was misinformed The LT1s dyno'd well over 250 easily. A brand new Mustang GT dynos at 250-260 and I'm pretty sure it weighs more than an LT1.

pretty much any 16v 4.6 Ford has made eats **** next to the Z/TA.

Yeah the '05/'06 stangs are on par with the LT1s from a roll and on the dyno, however they're faster because they can cut nasty 1.8 60s in stock form!

Nothing some tires and a cutout can't fix to put the LT1 back out in front!

If saleen started getting their **** together performance wise those might be nice cars.. might..

Why does everybody always assume that the other car is heavier? Like, no matter what the other car is. There are an awful lot of cars in the same 3200lb (no option formula with further weight reduction) - 3800lb (turbo, roll cage, etc) range of Fbodies. 94+ mustangs for instance are continually refered to as being so much heavier than Fbodies, when in fact I'm pretty sure they're nearly the exact same weight. Having owned both, the SN95 sure FELT lighter and more nimble than my TA, although I never put either one on a scale.

I thought the Mustang was heavier because it's newer and newer cars tend to be heavier than old cars now a days. But regardless, the Mustang GT can't be significantly lighter than an LT1 and they have pretty even dynos. So my point is the 2005 Mustang GT is pretty even with the 1993 LT1 (straight line of course.) That's not saying much for the mustang. It just caught up to where it's "competitor" was 12 years ago. And it'll be a long while before the next generation of mustangs comes out to finally beat the LS1... hell there'll probably be an LS2 Z28 by that time .

The reason is probably because mustangs have a full frame unlike the
f-body. Ive always noticed how mustangs felt "tighter"
