2002 M5?
Anyone had any run in with these cars?
I looked briefly on yahoo but I found consumer reviews and the like. Reason I'm asking is beacause a friend of mine has one and we might go from a roll because he says he can't launch it over 2500 RPM because the clutch wil slip. Very nice combination of speed, handlling and luxury I might add after taking it for a little spin. He described my car as a beast after taking mine. I know they have around 400 HP (and only a 5 litre V8!) but I could not find any track times. Info anyone?
Me or the M5 from a role?
2002 M5(six speed/stock)
My mods are in sig (sorry no track times or dyno #'s)
I really don't care if I lose I just thought it start an interesting convo.

0-60 @ 5sec. Still learning about the LS1's but the BMW's work so well the higher the mph. Hope this will help. I'd say go do it and find out. If you lose oh well. If you win you just beat a $70k car. good luck.

Hate to bounce off the topic but any 1 know what kind of race it would be with a 06 M3? i seen 1 a few days ago wonder what they can do on the street vs a Ls1

From what I have experienced with my friends M3 the launch will go to the better driver and the M3 LOVES upper rpm. Not sure which is meaner in the upper rpm's except the M3 can pull higher rpms than the LS1.

Good driver could pace a <2001 ls1 from a roll no prob. The bmw geared niceley for the highway and loves to rev. Your mods though you should definantly have him. Unless your an auto. That would just depend on the mph of the roll. I ran one from a 70mph roll with just a airlid And put two cars on him by 130ish. Kinda slow pull though. My car has a late 2001 motor in it though with ls6 intake and the new cam. All the M3s ive encountered have been even less admirrable. Good hunting.

The new M3 is an v-8 and the new M5 will be a v-10 right?
Maybe this weekend we can set a race up. They perform better on the curves than in straight line from what I felt in the car.
