well i was driving back from the parts store, coming up to a light i see a 98+ firebird(trans-am) about 2 cars ahead of me. Once it turns green i proceed to catch up to him(4 lanes no cars ahead), i see the owner looking through side mirror, dont know what his car had other than exhaust (i think it was borla, noticed quad intercooled tips) well as soon as i got up next to his rear bumper he punched it while i was cruising in 5th but i dropped to 2nd anyway(about 40ish), at this point he was about 1 1/2 cars ahead but he wasnt pulling neither was I and once i hit third i noticed he backed off already. So i proceed to pull up to him (but this time ready in 2nd) about 40 once i got to his door and i hear him downshift so i punch it not giving him the headstart again and so does he (pretty even start) by the end of 2nd he was at my rear bumper we took it to about end of 3rd with him still there and he backed off. We did this once more with almost same results (he was about 1/4 car further 2nd time) we start off in second i would jump and then not much happens he backed off at about middle of third.
I was kinda surprised because of my previous experience, i raced an auto LS1 Firebird (dont know which year again) very LOUD exhaust and from a light, i launched good and so did he and I stayed about 2 feet ahead through first going into second i jumped 1/2 a car on him but once I hit third he started pulling by the end of third i was about 1 1/2 behind him with him inching away. Did this twice with same results once i hit third he would pull about 1-2 cars and inching away after that. Overall i was more surprised than happy, but on the other hand dont know what mods they had except the one that beat me was about twice as loud.
By the way my G-tech times are 5.48 - 5.74 0-60 and 13.5 - 13.9 out of like 5 tries. MPH was like at 106 - 108 i wish...

i would think that ls1 has a better third.
in comparison i raced a Evo 8 MR from 35-40 and put 1 1/2 cars till 80 and i was still pulling slowly.

You know any of his mods besides that, seems odd to me that he didnt pull in third gear, all the lt1's i have been in fall on there face at like 70 or 80 and ls1's are in there sweet spot.

nope the only mods i noticed are the visible ones which is borla catback, dont know what else he had. The other guy that i lost to was obnoxious loud, didnt sound like a cutout though.
Ive been reading around here for a while now, yeh ive seen alot of critism towards lt1s well thats probably because of people claiming low 13s with no proof. But all i can say is what happened, happened. Im planning on taking it to a strip if i can find one around here to see where im at, because each and every mod i did i felt no difference AT ALL (dont know if i shouldve anyways).

The only race(s) i got against an LS1 A4 in my LT1 A4. He beat me by about 2 cars 0-65 but the mad pulling started at around 50mph.

the ls1 that beat me wasnt pulling REAL hard like i said he pulled GOOD for 1 to 2 cars than walking away. (probably wouldve had about 4-5 cars on me 0-100
Now when i had an encounter with an 04 Cobra a week ago,
he had (pully, exhaust, headers, intake, tune - i asked )
i get the jump and when he would punch it .... i think you get the point
first from 40 to 80 it was like 12 cars then he starts to disappear
i mean its cool, we ran 3 times believe it or not. Just wanted to try it out, how much was he pushin approximate ? because the way i see he was probably putting out about 440+ at wheels.

And does anyone know a dragstrip close Buffalo, Amherst area ?

4-5 cars 0-100 sounds about like how i would have lost. I have a Moroso CAI, thats it.
