944 gets owned
Nothing like an early morning race to wake you up, almost better than coffee
Going into work today @ 0500, had some jackass tailgating me (I was going slow as there are alot of deer on that road), get to the highway, and just casually get on the road, and here comes Joe Cool in his bright red 944, guess he wanted to play a bit, we went from a 35 roll, and it was pretty damn ugly for him, after being left several semi lengths behind my T/A, I shifted into 6th for a relaxed cruise to work.
He apparently had other ideas, he comes screaming up behind me trying to do a ricer fly by, that thought was quickly squashed by a fast downshift to 4th, and me matting the loud pedal, again I left him several semi lengths behind me.
You'd think he'd learned by now, but oh no, he comes and tries again, this time I didn't even bother with downshifting, I matted it in 6th, stopped his passing me at the front of the door, and started walking away from him in 6th gear
Guess there is a substitute for Porsche, it's called LS1

I've seen a few Turbo 944's that can give mild bolt on LS1's a good run

Not really up on my Porches, other than the 911, so I had no idea what a 944 was capable of for speed/times. So how do you tell if it's a turbo, or S2 (and wtf is an S2 )
I just thought it was funny I stopped his 2nd flyby attempt and didn't even need to shift out of 6th

on the back it will have "944Turbo" (I think) or (944S) (I know, i almost bought one)
and here is a link for anyone deficient in porsche knowledge involveing the S2. BTW, that little NA 4-banger dynoed at @ 185/185 with VERY minor mods...not bad for an 80's 4-banger huh?

Oh they are definitely good cars for their times, and produce good numbers for a 4 cylinder. My dad has a 924S... cool little car. Just not going to be able to compete with a lot of the more modern sports cars... not in a straight line anyway...

A 944 Turbo will say 944 Turbo, and A 944 S will say 944 S. My buddy has a 89 turbo, and a 87 944 S....... The 944 Turbo is decent speed wise and handling wise, definitely great for an 80's car.
One definite plus for porsche is they definitely know how to design a Sport seat. My buddy's 87 944 S has sport seats and for 20 y/o seats they are still beautiful, and bolster you in the right spots.

i had a 1984 944. with a whopping 150 bhp from the factory. 2.5 liter 4 banger had almost 160 TQ. though so not too bad. could definitely dominate in the twisties. i think it weighed 2600 lbs. RWD too. it was definitely interesting driving in the rain.
